Hey

Im 33

i'v been using finasteride/min for around 6 month. I have now been off for 2 month. stopped abruptly. im 90% recovered. Gone through lots of examinations with no conclusion.

Around 2 month ago i started feeling weird, had a hard time concentrating and was feeling tired most of the time, to the point where i couldent resist sleeping for 1-2 hours after work.

A week later while i was heading to bed my heart suddenly started pumping fast, and that ofc. freaked me out. i measured my pulse to 147 and headed to the doctor. A couple of hours later i was back home tired and fell asleep.

the day after i woke up with heartbeat again, this time measured 105. At this point i still didnt contribute it to the use of min/fina.

To make this post short i stopped min/fina 3 days after and the same ordeal continued around 3 weeks befor it gradually reduced for each day. I was a complete nerve wreck for 4 weeks straight.

The best way i can describe the feeling would be as if my whole nervous system laid bare/exposed, and i was unbearably anxious all the time.

Other things i experienced during this periode:
-eyetwitching (daily/continuously)
-Eye flashes

I ofc. also had the usual libido symptoms.

Im still unsure weather this was the cause of min/finasteride or just my own mind - scary nonetheless.

Edit:
Another thing i forgot to add was that i was taking ibuprofen pills for a week and during my first heartbeat- subscribed by my docotor due to a skiing accident where i hurt my shoulder.

First of all 147 beats per minute it's not just in your head. I did not take Fina, only minoxidil and minoxidil can definitely give you heart palpitations but I doubt it'll give you anxiety and definitely won't give you libido issues. So it's very likely that you may have sides from both meds

Heart palpitations are actually fairly common and nothing to be overly worried about. On top of that, it's very likely you miscounted your BPM, I remember doing the same thing when I first noticed it.

Ibuprofen is a fairly strong drug that is apparently prescribed in way too high doses. When I just got my hair transplant from a very good/known facility, they said I could take up to 4 pills of 600mg a day for the first week. When I told my parents, who are both nurses, they were shocked because the maximum recommended daily dosage is 1200mg.

Not saying the sides can't be from min/finasteride, in fact it's fairly likely they partly are. But the ibuprofen could be a big deal depending on how much you took.

I already have bad anxiety, i haven't noticed any worsening of my symptoms on finasteride or dutasteride. I do take diazepam though so maybe that's helping mask things, no idea.

My heartbeat was measured by a device.

I was subscribed 400mg 3 times daily, so yeah 1200mg daily.

Hey tomj

Did you take both fina and min?
How long were you taking em and how long befor you were back to normal?
First off you should allow people to private message you.
I tool finasteride off and on for several years. finasteride always ended up giving me anxiety as neurosteroids got depleted and testosterone went down. When I quit I tried minoxidil and it would increase anxiety again as my body wasmt healed...after I got to a certain point of healing after using finasteride I tried minoxidil again and it did not give me anxiety. So minoxidil may delay recovering from finasteride depending on how strong your body is. Remember this is my experience so finasteride advocates I'm not here to argue with anyone....but ended up not be able to use minoxidil either do to heart issues.

Not massive for me, but a constant crawly anxious feeling and apathy. tried finasteride about 6 times and this time I've lasted a year with no signs of it leaving.. makes sense because finasteride blocks an important calming (neurotransmitter?).. shame

Hey

Yeah i'v now been off for 4 month and have the exact same feeling as you described. One thing im noticing is that im not loosing the gains i got from fina. maybe somehow the body dosnt convert Test to DHT as it used to.

Did you lose your gains?

i read you already recovered. whatever was the cause, i find it very useful a dopaminergic drug/supplement, picamilon, for this kind of problems.

or, if you are for natural solutions, there's a interesting study on mucuna pruriens powder at high dosage (5g per die)

of course ibuprofene works, but here in europe we're very keen about it because of kidneys/liver issues on the long run

yes, the first time I stopped fina&min after 8 months my hair plummetted the next year. had to shave / hat prisoner for a long time. have gained back a lot of ground on this year of fina&min though, so my hair looks good with toppik.

4 months is quite short to assess loss, it seems to be a snowball effect in most cases
