I started taking finas on July 23, started with 0.5 mg every other day hoping that I would not suffer noticible side-effects but around the 12 days I started suffering from softer erections, I tried to keep going but got too scared because I was not getting hard even with stimulation and decided to stop. It's been 15 days and I'm back to normal (at least 85%).

I was thinking about trying 0.25 mg every three days and was wondering if anyone here has had any luck with a lower dose compared to your previous experieces?

Appreciate any input or advice you might have (sorry about my english, not my first languague)

Disclaimer: I have never tried fina but spent a lot of time reading and had many online conversations about it, just concluded it's not for me.

As far as your question goes, I've read plenty of both encouraging as well as discouraging opinions and experiences. There are plenty of people out there claiming good result on as low as .25mg 3 times a week. There are also stories claiming that second bout if finasteride really messed them up more than the first one.
It really depends in your genetics: how aggressive your hair loss is, how sensitive to 5ar inhibition you are etc. Of course, some would say to just ride the sides as they tend to subside with use. I don't think I am mentally prepared to have serious unwanted sides and continue just hoping they'll subside.
If you are willing to try again and wanna go as low as you can (provided that your hairloss is not aggressive as a rabid dog) you could probably start with Nizoral shampoo 3x week, add fina .25 3 to 5 times a week, microneedeling and, if needed, add some Minoxidil for growth (though it seems that the side effects incidence is greater on Minix than Fina).

Good luck!

This is anecdotal, but a dosage equating to 2mg a week, which would be 0.5mg every other day is usually the minimum dosage I've seen work for people. Like Manochoice said, there are people who claim success with extremely low dosages (0.25mg three times a week), but I would suspect that you would need to have mildy aggressive hairloss for that to work.

You could try the dosage regimen that Manochoice is suggesting, but I wouldn't set your bar high in terms of efficacy.

Couple of questions for you;

1. Have you ever had your testosterone levels checked?
2. Did you read about finasteride horror stories online before you began the medication? I'm not suggesting that your ED was "in your head" but it's a possibility if you've scared yourself reading some of the stories online. Anxiety can be a major erection killer.
