anyone have real results with dutasteride???

heard alot about dutasteride and how it is way more effective than propecia. Just wondering if anyone had real proof or can show pictures or just explain their story. Im really thinking of switching to it. anything would be helpful

i personally don't think dutasteride is much more effective. this is my opinion. and I really don't like the idea of inhibiting type I 5ar - which is present in brain tissue - and has been shown (admittedly by Merck) not to have any effect on male pattern baldness. Couple that with the fact that it's expensive, difficult to obtain, has amplified side-effects, a long half-life and has not been approved for male pattern baldness, I'm a little skeptical . Over to JayMan...

Oni, you have been most on the time on generics, with success. Do you use in house pharmacy? Also, I read some posts with people shedding after 1 year on dutas. Did it happen to you? When you reckon your hair was looking better? After the first year? Now? Please say now. Lie if you feel like.

The brain issue shouldn't be a worry. Women have 3 times less 5AR1 than men. They seem to do fine. I don't think inhibiting 50% of our 5AR1 will make much difference to long term health outcomes. As for the side effect profile, I think 0.5mg dutasteride came out better than 5mg finasteride in the phase II trials - admittedly it was a small sample!

I use United and yes I still had very light sheds up to the 2 year mark, my first and only big one was at the 3 month mark then they got lighter and less often....

My hair started to look good at about the 9 month to a year mark.
