Anyone have to take a blood test before taking propecia?

I went to the Doctor today, and she said before prescribing propecia, I should go and get a blood sample taken to determine my testosterone levels.

Has anyone had to do this or did they get their prescription right away? I was telling the dr. that I felt a mild burning on the vertex of my scalp. She didn't give a direct answer as to why that's so, but could that be a symptom of male pattern baldness?

Seems like a good idea, shippens book says most males are around 800-1200 until there mid 20's. Well I read a chapter of his book online and that is what it said ;P

Mine was 600 after Propecia, wish I checked it before hand.
