I'm curious about this. I've been on generic dutasteride (the reason I point this out, I've seen a million stories, despite sounding illogical, that generic finasteride destroyed hairlines, whereas brand-name helped a ton. So I don't know if the fact that I'm on generic means anything...) and it has caused a HORRIBLE shed after two months. I know I could stick it out for longer to see if it recovers as 2 months is very short, but I do worry, as literally the majority (literally, 98%, most of what I read about dutasteride,) of stories say the hair just got worse on dutasteride and never recovered.

So I'm ordering through Keeps for convenience, after reading good things. I started straight onto dutasteride, which probably wasn't a great idea, and I'm awaiting my shipment of 1mg Finasteride from Keeps.

Has anyone tried going from dutasteride = > finasteride, and have seen better results? Or possibly, have been on dutasteride, seen nothing but bad news, then switching to finasteride and seeing positive news?

I worry that finasteride would have a similar effect, and I understand I'm just asking and looking for hope about the decision I'm making.

So yeah.

Anyone have experience where bad things have happened on dutasteride, but they've made progress on finasteride? I really worry finasteride will have the same effect.

Thanks!

i was on finasteride for 20+ years, started to lose effectiveness. I switched to dutasteride 1 day a week for 6 weeks and upped it until dutasteride EOD without finasteride.
When I added dutasteride initially I had a shed that lasted 6 weeks to the day. It subsided and i felt my hair stayed pretty much the same. About a month ago I started another shed with itchiness. It still seems to be going on so i added an another dutasteride (4 a week) about 2 weeks ago.

Im 50 so i could be at the point stuff stops working. i was thinking of adding finasteride back to see if it has renewed vigor. However dont blame the pills. Sheds are normal, but if it lasts longer than 6 weeks you may be immune to it.

You change Finasteride brand? Try Merck brand and see…..
