I took finasteride for around 3 years before switching to duta, which I’ve been on for about 3 years now. Finasteride didn’t work at all for me, if anything seemed like it accelerated my hair loss. Dutasteride seems to be working to a degree, at least much better than finasteride. Still very slowly losing hair, but have no crown thinning so can’t complain too much, and started losing hair at like 19/20 and am almost 27 now with no crown thinning so I’m guessing it’s doing something. Not sure where I would be at without it as male pattern baldness doesn’t run in my family until 40+ so can’t gauge based on my brothers who have no hair loss.
No libido/ED issues on duta so not planning on quitting. Overall like it a lot more than finasteride, and the super long half life is a plus as I’ve forgotten to take it for weeks before when out of town/on vacation with no negative effect.
