Hi everyone,

Before I started using finasteride (5 weeks ago) I always looked at the topics in the success stories section to give me the courage to start with finasteride. Now that I finally started I feel like I need courage for something else...

After the first week on finasteride I noticed that my ejaculation volume strongly decreased, shortly after I noticed that my erections were softer and my libido decreased.
Two weeks ago everything got a little bit better but it is still far from how it was before, especially the fact that I have no spontaneous erections anymore (which used to happen a lot more before finasteride) worries me. My erections are only 80-90% of what they used to be...

I lowered my dose from 1,25 ED to 0,625 on a M-W-F-S schedule and will keep it like this for the next 3 months.

So any experiences from users who decided to ride out their sides who are now side-free? This would help me a lot! If it wouldn't be for Zeroheat I would probably have stopped finasteride...

Thank you guys!

PS: ejaculation volume is almost back to normal.

Yes initially I was using finasteride, my hair was growing back at an excellent rate and it was working but... I was getting nasty side effects. My nipples were hurting I was getting a ugly rash on my body. I was pretty freaked out and thought this was the end of my hairloss efforts, due to the large role finasteride plays in stopping hairloss.

I decided I didn't want to give up quite yet and got a prescription from the doctor for dutasteride. The first two weeks I took dutasteride I noticed a small side effect, my body temperature was very hot. I worked in a kitchen at the time and for the first two weeks I was on dutasteride, I had to go home and have cold baths. I was super worried.

Thankfully my body temperature stabilized after two weeks and dutasteride,(along with minoxidil and regenepure shampoo) has been slowly stopping my thinning, increasing hair density and restoring my hairline! My advice is to try dutasteride, although similar to finasteride the slower release of the drug might be tolerated by your body better.

Best of luck!

Thanks for your message buddy. I can totally relate to the what you said about freaking out and being afraid of being near the end of my hairloss efforts so it gives me positive energy that you found a way that works for you. Congrats!
:)
Did you notice any sexual sides on finasteride? How lang did you take it and how long did it take for your body to go back to normal after quiting?

My own update:
Last week it seemed like I was slowly recovering from the sides but now it seems like I am back to where I was when the sides started:-(.
Are there any people here that experiences sides during the first 6 weeks on finasteride (or longer) that stil went away after continued use?

People are always talking about how side effects wants them to stay away from different treatments. But it does it really matter if you get hair in the process?

Hey so I noticed minimal sexual side effects on finasteride, if anything my libido was higher, so I can't help you there. In terms of the rash and sore nipples, I was only on finasteride for about 3 weeks so after about 2 weeks the side effects were gone.

Good luck man, I hope your side effects disappear.

You've only been using finasteride for 5 weeks, I'd advise sticking with it for at least another 4-5 weeks before making any decisions, as your body might need a bit more time to adjust. When I first started on finasteride, I got the same sides that you've described. and it took 2.5-3 months for things to fully get back to normal. When it was at the 2 month stage and the sides still hadn't gone away, I started to panic a bit and was thinking about coming off it/lowering dosage, but I stuck with it and at the 3 month stage, everything was 100% back to normal for me, so I'd stick with it for another while!

I experienced heightened libido in the first month or so of taking finasteride. After that my erections became very weak and semen was very thin and less of it. All this changed after about 4 months and my libido and erections have gone back to normal although my semen is still thin and has much less volume than before. What is worrying for me is that I have been having breakouts of acne on the back and sides of my neck for the first time in my life (I'm 52), which I had to see my GP about. 9 months on finasteride and I haven't noticed any hair regrowth or cessation of hair loss.
