are minoxidil and finasteride useful for frontal/temporal hairloss?

I have read claims in both directions, does anyone have any personal experiences?
My hair loss in mainly frontal/temporal, although it seems the whole top area is thinning also.
I am worried about comiting to products that are not recomended for frontal hairloss

Both products were only tested for vertex thinning. But most people who use them have had good results in the frontal region. Look at Martin in the photo section of the main page. Hes has has amazing results both vertex and frontal.

but his temples didn't really regrow. Not to say his results aren't incredibly encouraging.

minoxidil has grown back my temples 90% in the past 7 months of treatment. I apply minoxidil 5% to my temples only and I am also on finasteride since I am a diffuse thinner. So far so good. Give it a try and stick with it.
