Ive been on finasteride daily for a year now and although i think it has slowed down my hair loss i am still having hair falling out. Each morning when i rub my hair into the sink i get anout 10-15 hairs come out.

Is this normal? What does everyone else experience?

Shedding hair is normal, if it is not making any impact to the density of your hair don't worry about it.

Thats interesting. 7 years is a long time and if you maintaining then defo a success.

Whats your current regime?
And how many hairs do you lose in a day?

f*****g hell thats a lot. And your maintaining? Wow.

I tried duta for 6 months but didnt think it was working. Why do you take both? Duta is supposed to block 90% of dht.

10% of the hair on your hair is in the process of falling out to make way for new anagen hairs. Hair shedding is very normal - its the thickness of the hair that regrows in its place that determines regression, progression or maintenance.

But the weird thing is. When you think back to pre hair loss years when you were younger, i dont ever remember having any hair fall out. I remember i would rub my head and maybe 1 or 2 hairs would fall out.

Yeah but you aren’t thinking about it when you’re a kid. Plenty was still coming off down the drain in the shower etc ..

When you were a kid you didn't care about hair falling. You juat wouldn't notice.

Just look at women Ad the amount of hair they shed.

My theory is that if you have diffuse thinning. That means much of your scalp is thinner. Shorter hair cycles means more hair falling out. But thanks to the finasteride and dutasteride the next hair cycle is not thinner than the previous. It comes back the same way and so you maintain.

So to me its possible to maintain while losing a lot of hair. Don't know if this makes sense or not.

Yeah i get whar you mean. The shedding is not the important bit. Its the thickness of the hair that replaces the shed one.

The average scalp loses 100-150 hairs daily. If you are rubbing your scalp and only 10-15 hairs have fallen, it's not a sign of anything negative. Of course you will ALWAYS shed some hairs daily, that's just how hair cycles are. I am on dutasteride daily since February and the shedding has only reduced in October.

Now, i shed very small weak hairs (blonde for some reason) and they don't seem to have a bulb or any root when shed. A sign that maybe more stronger hairs are coming.

Yeah i get what your saying.

The hairs that are coming out are all different thicknesses though. I dont know if this is something to be concerned about or not.
