Bit of a long story so bare with me here.
About 3 years ago I started working at a job I was in direct sunlight 8 hours a day. I rarely wore sunscreen but wore a hat most days. I developed small heat rash on my thigh and my dr gave me steroid cream to treat. the cream ultimately just spread the rash and the usual topical steroid story happened. stronger and stronger creams etc. Dr then put me on high doses of Prednisone for 3 months. then wheened me off it while using strong steroid creams. I never wore sunscreen in this time as my body never reacted to sunburn due to the prednisone.
anyway this small heat rash had turned into a full body rash including hectic dandruff through my hair and was just not happening, so i went cold turkey off all steroid creams/prednisone. This was 18 months ago.
the next month after that i was in and out of hospital with adrenal failure, extreme fevers etc. I weighed 65kg beforehand and come out of it at 53 kg. im 5 foot 11.
Heres the relevant part -
from the time i stopped taking the steroid stuff i got lots of really itchy spots all through my scalp, i would scratch them as little as i could, but Where the itchy spots were i thinned out greatly, lots of shedding, 150+ a day for a month or two.
the shedding slowed down about a year ago. but i was left with a pretty defeated hairline. I had a receding hairline beforehand but nothing too bad, but this had thinned right down the middle. I was pretty upset. I started taking Biotin as suggested by DR.
anyway I heard after a traumatic experience your hair can shed and then just not grow while in a resting phase for some time.
About 4 months ago i noticed tiny tiny tiny black hairs growing where my hair should still be. Only seen under a light from my phone. so timy. over last few months it has grown so so slowly, but has gotten slightly longer, and has started to spread over where my was lost. I am not sure if this regrowth or just baby hairs that will never be any good.
Im sorry for long post. ill try recap
18 months ago - hospitalized, high fevers, adrenal failure.
lots of hair shedding and itchy dandruff through scalp
12 months ago - shedding slowed to "normal amount" (10 hairs on hand after washing hair) - started biotin
4 months ago notice baby tiny hairs growing where hair was lost
current - hairs are a little longer and seem to be growing in numbers, but unsure if these hairs are worth being excited over.
so please give your opinion on these very slow paced new hairs that trying to grow. does anybody know any more info about hair resting phase after shedding from traumatic event? and can anybody give any tips on what i can take to provoke some faster growth.
I have taken pictures as best i can.
the new hairs im talking about are the ones that kinda look a bit stubbly, or obviously a lot smaller than my actual hair.
