A new study:

Conclusions: Based on our results, the combination of arginine and zinc tested in our study could represent a good therapeutic option for the treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia and Telogen Effluvium and it might represent a valid alternative to finasteride.

This is just the abstract. They did have a control group and it was blind testing which is good but on the other hand, the confidence interval is likely to be insigficant or at least not highly significant since there were only ten people. Every single time one of these articles come out about novel treatments, they fail to pan out or they just aren't worth the hassle when we already have excellent maintenance drugs. People have verified microneedling and there have been several studies and tests done, all showing that it is or can be efficacious for not maintenance only but to also regenerate dormant follicles or create new ones depending upon how it works exactly. Microneedling can also easily be verified by using it on scars on the body. They will melt away a little each time and for five sessions or so, scabbing can be viewed indicating that the "healed scar" is actually healing itself.
