Article with independent opinion on fluridil?

I believe it was bryan who said that the lack of independent study/opinion about fluridil is very suspicious. All the articles about it are by the same group led by Sovack.
When I searched fluridil in google scholar option, I got this:

Investigational medications in the treatment of alopecia - group of 5 »
GA Poulos, P Mirmirani - Expert Opinion on Investigational Drugs, 2005 - dx.doi.org ... 3.1.2 Investigational treatments 3.1.2.1 Fluridil: Phase I/II Fluridil is a synthetic topical antiandrogen capable of sup- pressing the human androgen receptor ... Related Articles - Web Search - BL Direct

here is the link:
http://www.expertopin.com/doi/abs/10.1517/13543784.14.2.177

the problem is that google finds that fluridil is mentioned in this article, but when I press the link I can't see the full pdf since I'm not subscribing to that journal.
I searched in the databases of every university in the cities around where I live, but non of them is subscribing to that journal (if one of them did, I would simply drive there and photocopy that article).
so, guys who are studying or living near some academic center, could you please check if your library subscribe (electronically or hardcopy) to that journal ("Expert Opinion on Investigational Drugs")? I'm very curious to know what they are writing there, I hope it won't be only one vague sentence...

Thanks in advance,

I hate it when that happens. Youre lookin' for something, and find a study relevant to it, and get on there and its a blackwell-synergy article or whatnot and you have to pay a bundle to read the damn thing..................bummer

it seems like a disproportionate amount of hairloss studies fall victim to copyright or some such......

Hey, cool! I checked around the Texas Medical Center libraries, and that particular issue is supposed to be over at the MD Anderson medical library! The only problem is that I don't know if the public is allowed access over there...I'll have to drive over there and see if they'll let me copy that article.

Unfortunately, there's nothing new in it, they just quote the original Sovack study. But I suppose it's worth _something_ that these additional researchers at least seem to buy into the idea that fluridil works. Or PROBABLY works. Or POSSIBLY works! :)

For what it's worth, I dropped finasteride about 5-6 months ago and have been using Fluridil (along with minoxidil and copper peptides) and have not lost any ground.

Although the studies are iffy in credibility, I WILL say that if the stuff WAS BS, then why use isopropyl alcohol that can irritate scalps and dry hair, why use glass ampules that can be annoying at times, and why insist that the stuff never come in contact with water? This makes it a somewhat, non-user friendly topical.

If the developers were indeed out to make a buck I would assume they would give it a few more favorable cosmetic attributes.

You do make a pretty good point.

I'm nearly 2 months using fluridil, so far it's working, but still too early to really judge.

hedgehog_info: Thank you very much for your help!
