This morning I was trying to get my combover right, but no matter how I combed my hair, the top of my head was see through. I thought to myself "I'm not just losing my hair anymore - I am starting to be 'bald' now". I undid my combover, revealing my nearly totally bald scalp in its entirety. "Who am I fooling?", I thought. I felt totally hopeless at this point.
As a last resort, I got out my clippers and decided to shave the sides of my head really short, to make the top of my head look thicker in comparison. I didn't think it would do anything - I mean, it wasn't going to make my hair grow back. But to my surprise, it was extremely effective. I can't articulate why it works, but it works. I can see through to my scalp, but it's not noticeable any more. I guess when the sides are this short, it looks like the top is thicker than the sides, and therefore it looks like you "have hair".
Thank God we live in a time when it's socially acceptable to have sides this short - if this were 15 years ago I would look ridiculous with sides this short. I just hope this hairstyle doesn't go out of fashion any time soon.
