Hi there,

I am a french 24 years-old asian. I noticed my hair loss about 2 years ago but I didn't really do anything thinking that it would solve by itself...

Backgrounds:
All the members of my family including ,uncle, parents, grandparents, etc.. are asian. It is extremely rare to see a bald person in my family. Therefore, my father went bald over the age 60. He is 65 now.
So I find it really weird losing my hair ...not only my hair...but also pubic hair.

This is my current brother's hair. This is what my hair used to look like.

Differents Steps:

2010 – 2011

I have notice my hair got thinner and had loss.
December 2012 I remembered around december 2012 (WINTER) , I had full of pubic hair then day after day I was having loss pubic hair.

At that moment, I felt so tired I couldn't get up even when I slept like 10 hours.
I was losing pubic hair in that moment.

Today , My hair looks like nothing. This is terrible.

I am also having eyelash loss but a few like 1 or 2 for a week. It happened when I was cleaned up my face with water.

What I think about my hair loss:
- Hair loss is difficult to explain, there are so many factors.
- Food with oil or junkfood like crisps make me losing hair.
- Doing cardio sport (running) makes me stop losing my hair after a shampoo.
- I believe in my part, It is mostly due to physical inactivity, and the bad food i had been eating for years. My brother has always eaten healthy food and did sport. I should have done the same lol

What am I taking now ?
- I am taking Minoxidil 5% which was recommanded by a dermatologist. What he did : He looked my skull with a light in 3 SECONDES. Then he said I had alopecia androgenetica.

What am I doing now ?
- I've decided to take a blood test. My doctor (generalist and not specialist) said everything is fine "young = super healthy" [OF COURSE NOT] but I don't think so because some results were not goods.
For instance:
- Thyroglobulin antibody. It is much higher than the normal. I have 128. Normal is 100.
- T4 free reached the limit of "normal". I have 11.1. The max is 11.2.

I don't know what do these results means but I've learned some symptoms about such as difficulty to concentrate, depression, change of moods, difficulty to memorize. There are others symptoms that i'm not having such as : not tolerating cold / hot,... I'm having those I quoted but I don't know if it all due to depression or due to something else...

So What I would like to know :
To Asian : Have you lost your hair that way ? Have you lost your hair body too (pubic, eyelash, etc.) ?
To all : Do you have any ideas about my blood result?

Your opinion ?

I don't think ethnicity/diet/physical activity has any role in what your experiencing. You say your losing eye lashes and pubic hair as well as your head hair which makes me think of alopecia universalis. Did you tell your derm you were experiencing hair loss all over?

Your head says androgenetic alopecia but losing your pubes says something like alopecia universalis

Looks like Dupa or some medical reason for hairloss. I'd swiftly seek a second opinion from a dermatologist/hair loss specialist

Check T4,T3 and TSH .
Including antibodies.
The tsh reading can help determine if your hypothyroid or hyperthyroid.Hair fall dues to both is cause your hormones are out of balance.Balancing these with a synthetic thyroid hormone will improve your symptoms. Also get your ferritin levels checked
