I started taking Avodart, usually on an empty stomach late afternoon.

I see many posts recommending EOD use.

Why ?

As dutasteride has such long half life some reduce dose by taking EOD.Its not as good as every day but is still very high % reduction DHT and of course saves money and reduces sides if you have any.

Taking end of day is good if you suffer some tiredness but some have said taking in the morning is better absorption. I take end of day myself because when I was on finasteride that caused me tiredness so keeping th same for dutasteride just in case I get some tiredness

so EOD is Every Other Day ... ok thanks

EOD in market trading is End of day., hence my misinterpretation.

thanks for the replies

I have no sides, was on finasteride for over 6 years with no sides.
Stopped for 6 months and started Avodart 2 weeks ago.

If anything since starting Avodart my mood has improved and feel great, at least for the time being.

....

just as an aside - it's also clerical / word-processing jargon for End of Document - a late 80s early 90s holdover. Don't see it used too often anymore in that conext though.

Have you had a shed yet?

We started about Telogen Effluvium same time ... im almost at the close of month 1 ... shedding isnt like what it was with finasteride.

At week 2 with finasteride ( a year ago) I began shedding like crazy - pillow covered every morning. That lasted about 3 weeks, maybe more.

Now, since the dutasteride began (im doing 2 on 1 off) to take effect, Im shedding in a constant steady pace, not all at once like with finasteride.

The little "sqiggly" hairs that I havent seen in a lonngggg time are back. They are extremely skinny and crooked and short, so im hoping thats a sign the follicle is being 'retooled' by the dutasteride and the 'bad' hair is being pushed out in exchange for new, stronger hairs and growth ...

If Im off base or fooling myself, please let me know.

Good luck to you

I am shedding a little, which is unusual for me.
only 2 to 5 hairs on the pillow.
About 10 -20 hairs when I wash.

I usually only shed 3 to 8 hairs when I washed my hair.

the hairs I am shedding are thick very healthy hairs. not squiggly or thin.

I also dropped minoxidil 4 months ago and tried Super Zix.
So some of my shed has to be contributed stopping minoxidil.

I started minoxidil with Avodart again.

I see this shed as healthy, does not mean I like it !!

I do see some new hairs comming through so , there is some encouragement, and some vellus hair on temples getting a little longer.

We`ll see in time.

Good luck to you too

One month on Dutas..no sides but pretty sure there is shedding as hair is thinner all over, either that or its accelerated loss. Hairline whats left is still receding/thinning.

Lost hairs seem to be mainly shorter thin ones and its a few on the pillow..can't tell what I lose when I wash it as my hairlength is short 1-2 inches which goes down the plughole easily, I guess I must lose most then. Brushing only a couple of hairs lost

if you wanna see a good example of a dutasteride shed go to my story link.

I had a good steady shed about 1.5-2 months in but it started comming back really well month 3+

Probably not typical for everyone but I seem to be a fast responder to it.

I had a recent shed switching to M W F instead of daily. But looking at the dutasteride dosing charts I should of anticipated my hair count going down because thats exactly what it did. Dropped down and held steady. Now that i went back on daily it's coming back nice. I will update soon.

Yours is a good story and you have great results on Dutas.

Hopefully I will follow the same and just shedding for a bit longer before better things to come..
