Hello all,
I began my regimen in September 2002 when I was 23 years old. I had been balding slowly for about three years at that point, and had a Norwood 2 hairline with about a 3" by 3" thin spot on the crown. As an aside, I had a terrible itching problem on the crown when I was losing hair. Just a constant itchy/throbbing sensation on the scalp all day long. Getting on the treatments eliminated that itch.
My regimen was as follows:
1 mg Finasteride daily
Dr. Lee's Minoxidil 5% 1x daily
2% Nizoral M,W,F; T-Gel for the remaining days.
After about three months, I began seeing thickening and coarsening of the thinning hair on my vertex. Slowly but surely the crown recovered fairly well; if I let my hair grow for a few months it's pretty hard to tell I have thinning back there. You can still tell, but overall, it's much improved. Part of the reason I regret letting my hair loss go unchecked for three years is the crown. Had I started at 21, I'd probably have a full head of hair. So if you're thinking of trying these treatments, don't put it off.
After 10 months, I noted an improvement in my hairline. It's a Norwood 1.5 now and has been ever since. People who did not know me in my teen years are convinced this is my natural hairline.
Since the end of the first year, I've seen no more "regrowth," but I have maintained completely. I've suffered no side effects that I'm aware of. I'm now moving into month 27 of my regimen and all is well. Frankly, I couldn't have asked for more.
Hope this helps.
