Shh agonists are fascinating. On private forum ppl gbd back then an agonist, it made hair thicker, killed shedding, and that quite quickly though they did not make new hair sprout in that small and short trial.

Sadly ppl quit, because a) fear of cancer, b) it was expensive.

Azelaic acid also is known to be a 5ar inhibitor, but I do not remember anyone getting results from it. That being said, this study seems to not have used a control group without uvb, making it rather imply uvb, minoxidil and azelaic acid all three taken together having a synergistic effect on shh.

It’s most likely the UVB, which has been found to stimulate shh on its own.

I think this is all about VDR activation. Still don’t know what the best way to go about that is. @HairCook

Resveratrol is one VDR activator and you find it in the newer stemox version at 0.25% (as the recent study in females), in case you are interested in it.

Sunburns plus benox/sulfasalazine did show hair growth in the past. Swisstemples also did them, so did I and got regrowth in my temples.
Sadly in the past year I was not able to follow my regimen. But the logic so far is that sunburns enhance pge2 expression for an extended amount of time while sulfa inhibits 15-pgdh (enzyme that breaks down pge2 potentiating availability of pge2) while it also adresses tgf-b1 and possibly other pathways (it decreases pgd2 as well by rather slight cox inhibiton).

This study still seems to imply a syngergistic effect on ishh expression by minoxidil, azelaic acid and UVBR.

Azelaic acid is a fairly common ingredient these days in minoxidil products not as common as finasteride tho its always annoyed me as i consider it a pointless add another name to the bottle filler
