Just read their latest press release http://www.intercytex.com/icx/news/releases/2009/2009-07-01/url]here.

It says:

Whilst the Company continues to be in detailed discussions with a number of parties, and has received offers to acquire certain parts of the business, the Directors do not currently expect that an offer to acquire the whole business in a single transaction will be forthcoming from any of the parties currently engaged in the process. On this basis, the Company has received confirmation that they are no longer in an Offer Period for the Purposes of the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers.

Discussions for the acquisition of certain parts of the business of Intercytex are progressing, although the sum total of indicative offers received to date is significantly lower than the current market capitalisation of the Company.

As part of the strategic review, and to further control costs and preserve the Company’s cash resources, the Company will shortly commence a 30 day consultation period with employee representatives to propose a further reduction in headcount at the Company's facilities in Manchester and Cambridge UK. The Company may also need to reduce headcount at its Boston facility in the US.

This says to me:

1. They expect that they're not going to get bought out.
2. They expect that some elements of the business may be bought out, i.e. specific treatments they're researching
3. Since these offers aren't particularly high, and since they're still in funding trouble, they're looking to cut more staff and, hence, cut back on projects.

Forget Intercytex... They haven't had any positive news for the past 1,5 years. always the same stuff.

Unsurprising news really. Intercytex are one of millions of companies worldwide that are feeling the effects of global recession. Because such a huge proportion of their work is research and development, it is simply too risky and imprudent to be throwing cash into potential projects. They are operating as a going concern and need to control short term costs, which also explains the possible redundancies.

Understandably, companies that have an interest in buying Intercytex or parts of it are only willing to offer so much - and unsurprisingly, less than what Intercytex is supposedly valued at.

I don't think it's THAT bad news to be honest... ...there are a number of companies looking to develop hair products/treatments and Intercytex is just one of them. It's probably a good thing that companies are interested in buying Intercytex as it at least implies there is potential in their work.

If I was a billionaire/had money like James Cameron for instance I would fund that company or one similar to it and get the whole sh*t rolling once and for all. I know it's going to be standard practice to restore hair through FM in the future, where you can just go to a doctor's checkup even and regrow easily. This of course will be in 40 years or something, and before that all the budding research and companies doing tests will be constantly set back, or the patents sat on, and all the other bureacratic red tape. Every day is sh*t as I rummage around with thinning hair in daily life. But at some point I'm just not going to give a f***.

The medical community just does not give a sh*t about hairloss, overall. Period.

Sad but true. Even if the economy were good, the pharmies wouldn't allow a superior treatment to come to market for quite some time. I've learned not to get my hopes up anymore and have been ignoring this section altogether.

hmmm interesting, though i think intercytex will be as dead as dodo soon,
i kinda think ARI are going to overtake them soon
i think we would of had TRC available nowif intercytex had half decent management

i think VAVELTA proves it all, they made an anti ageing skin product that would make botox a thing of the past, just pure obsolete, but they marketed it in the uk without any attempts to move it to lets say.....Beverly hills which was a terrible move and proves pathetic business sense
and VAVELTA hit the wall with intercytex
it's sad because they have such good innovations just a bunch of brain-dead retards running the business end of it

:dunno: , alll companies know these sh*t work, it just takes time and funds, please someone rich fund them NOW. Investors need to hav faith in hairloss product reserach, it's gonna be big if it really works and no horrible side effect like finasteride. Let's just hope something effective come out around 2020( sounds reasonable?), I will be 31 in that time. Not as bad as most people here.

If they really had something significant (that was really worth investing in), they would have ZERO problems getting funded. Just something to keep in mind.
not necessarily, history shows that some of the best ideas and inventions were left ignored

intercytex have seized trading stock, i am pretty sure they are going to be liquidated in a few months time, i think we might as well throw TRC into the bin full of failed projects, it's a shame because the innovation was good but the finance was crap
hopefully ARI will do better :)

Just watched that movie Duplicity where Clive Owen and Julia Roberts are coorperate spies trying to steal the formula that cures baldness. How many people will die before we get a cure?

i think we have the cure it's just that all this FDA and clinical trials bullshit stops it being commercially available
i just wish for one day politicians can let people take responsibility for themselves like adults rather than passing a load of safty bullshit, banning what could be brilliant medicines, treating us mearly like retarded children, telling us what we can take or can't take
i just wish once i could have the right to say "yes i want histogen and i don't care if it kills me, i don't care if my "hair grows in the wrong direction" or if it's "the wrong length" i just want the f*****g cure
unfortunately the only cure available is eugenics but that would take generations and i know a few complete twats will ruin it ¬_¬
