Bald by Choice? Why?

Why do some guys who have really perfect hair choose to keep it shaved and stay completly bald? I know some athletes like to do this because of their sport but I have started noticing more and more teenagers and guys in their early 20's going for the shaved look. What's up with this.

My 15 year old cousin has taken it all off - says he wants to look tough like Vin Diesel, LOL! Heard of any other explanations?

Isaac Hayes said he cut his off to go against what blacks were doing in the early 60s who were straightening their hair to look like whites. Said he liked the feel of the breeze so he left it that way.

yonger guys do it because they think they will have perfect hair forever

i mean it could not happen to them could it,but these guys should enjoy there hair while they can ,plenty of time to shave it in the future when you have no choice

Yeah its just a fashion trend copying guys like wentworth miller etc, hey if I had a full nw1 I'd probably try it just out of curiosity. But these guys know that they can grow it back anytime.

As for Issac Hayes probably bs he just did'nt want to admit that he was going bald young.

If you're a nw1 and have a nice facial structure, sometimes shaving your head will make you look better. It could show off your features a lot more.

And those who buzz/shave their heads know how liberating it actually is. Saves time and money since you no longer have to bother with hair products. You can wear hats and beanies in the winter time without having to worry about messing the hair. And you can also save money by buzzing it yourself instead of going to the barber.

I haven't noticed an increase in guys shaving their heads lately. Beckham did it a while ago, but the world has moved on. Longer hair is in for men at the moment, moving away from the spiky/messy bedhead styles popular in the early years of the decade.

Lots of buzzed and shaved heads here in Finland now... it's always like this in the summer. I'm always thinking "I should do it, that guy right there has even worse headshape than me and he has done it and seems ok with it". But no, I'm a f*****g coward. :(

It is a trend. If I knew I would have hair for the rest of my life I would also do it for a few weeks/months. These youngsters have no idea what they are missing....

I used to buzz my hair when I was younger thought the short hair was cool but oh how things change.

It is you that doesn't know what your missing. Thousands of men are shaving their heads these days and loving it! Shaving your head is the new combover for balding guys and trust me we will never go back, Its is THE best decision I ever made in regards to my hair. Its a trend that is exploding and will soon be as common as a guy with hair.

What does this mean? A new way to hide it or just the new thing that every bald guy is doing it? And anyway taug was referring to guys who are making themselves bald by choice, not people who are naturally balding who shave their head.

JustShaveIt, I respect your opinion. But I am certainly curious about why you are still reading and posting on these forums if you have chosen a path for yourself and are happy with it? I sure hope I could eventually accept my hairloss sooner or later and overcome my depression. But the last thing that I want to do is to come back to this site when I am at that point. I would just want to move on with my life. So I don't understand why someone like you who has made a choice and doesn't regret it still spend so much time on these forums?

because he is jealous of people who are having success on treatments and wants them to be bald not by choice.

there's no other rational explanation. why else would he care what other people, people who he doesn't even know, are putting in their bodies?

Viper, I am here to represent a side of hairloss that people seem to overlook....acceptance. A side that is constantly bashed and attacked by people like Jayman and bubka. When I first came across these forums I was so shocked at the severely depressed people and even people would wanted to commit suicide over a silly thing such as hairloss. At that point I decided this forum also needs people that can offer something else besides chemicals, hair pieces and transplants, Hairloss is a natural part of life and a normal part of aging and family genes, its futile to fight it, if not their would be no bald men in the world. I'm not here to try to convince you to do anything you don't want to do but I will offer my advice and an alternative to these drugs that offer minimal results at the high price of your health and $$ and sanity.

Jayman, this is a hairloss forum right? Well I lost hair and found something that solved my problem, I shaved it. And i'm here to share my experience just like you love to share your experience with your chemicals.Jealous of people of treatments? no way i would ever allow chemicals that give you man boobs, limp penis, decreased libido in my body, have fun with your "regimen"

You know what, if that's true, then that's TERRIBLE. Now I'm thinking, do non-balding people view balding dudes who shave their heads the same way they view men with comb-overs? Does the shaved head mean that we're trying to hide our hair loss but we're not fooling anyone and we're looking foolish in the process??

Uh no. Shaving your head is the honorable thing to do when you reach NW5/NW6/NW7. Maybe even NW4. Or at least keeping it buzzed. It looks a lot better that way than grown out. And it looks 100 times better than a combover.

RON PAUL. He's like an STD. Just keeps on spreading.

It is a forced hairstyle, people can tell that. But they never think about what they would do faced with the same dilemma.

Maybe they like it, but that doesn't mean it's trendy anymore. Ask your local stylist! The last time Toni & Guy did a trends update for men (last summer) they said "a fond farewell to mohawks and bed heads, an embrace from longer groomed styles. Throw out your spikey gel and grow your hair on top."
