I am a 20-year old individual who crash-dieted his way to a Norwood 2 with significantly recessed temples that still have not grown back significantly. To give y'all a proper timeline, The crash-diet stopped around August 2009, which is when I first noticed my hair loss problem. I used Folligen, Nizoral 2% shampoo, and some odd-vitamins until December 2009, when I finally had the balls to start Rogaine Foam 5% (only on the temples)... in this post I have pics from December and now in Febuary.

The temples may look like they have improved after 2 months of Rogaine foam in this pic...

...but personally I think it's just image quality, no real progress, here's a slightly poorer-quality photo, similar to the one I took in December (LOOK CLOSELY, ZOOM IN AND COMPARE):

Here's the rear, it has grown out a bit, compare this to the third photo in my post... (do I have any real thinning or is it just camera flash effect???)...

Am I thinning near the whorl as well? Or is this just flash?

So as you can see... I want to know if I am miniaturizing in the back or on the whorl as well... am I? And have I made any real gains in the temples? I think not. I used to take Hair, Skin, & Nails vitamins and consumed around 360 tablets/3 bottles of those but haven't gotten any more since, I have been using Folligen every day or every other day and Nizoral 2% 2 or 3 times weekly since around September/October and still do, and I added Rogaine 5% in mid-December and have not missed or gone off my regimen.

Also I must type this: It pisses me off to no end when all these old farts and other people tell me, oh just shave your head... I don't want to be *****ing bald!!! I won't look like Vin Diesel, Stone Cold Steve Austin, I'll just be some weakling bald *****!!! It's just not me!!!

based on this pic particularly and the others to a lesser extent, it does appear you are thinning in the crown area

I think you should relax a bit as your hair loss isn't that bad and you're only 20yrs old. Propecia should work well for you and take care of your concearns at least in the short-term.

I bet your body is going to change like wouldn't imagine by the time you hit your late 20's. I'm 29 now and remember myself being pretty much the same kid I was in high school when I was 20. A little weight lifting and solid eating my shoulders widened up a lot and I carry a decent build.

What I'm trying to say, when I was 20, I would have freaked at the sight of my bald head, but now I'm older, my looks and body matured and I don't think I look as bad with a shaved head. Chances are the same will happen to you

Hmm... I have a few more pics from the top , w/ and w/o flash, and that's really the worst the top looks... keep in mind that the photo right there was when my head was buzzed down REAL short, down to a 2...

at any rate, I won't go anywhere NEAR propecia... it's not worth the risk, and aside from a hair transplant, the regimen I am doing is probably all I'm willing to do... I don't want to risk feminization or emasculization at all. I guess what I was really asking was whether I should use Rogaine around the whorl and/or back or not.

It also could be the angle of attack/growth of the hairs... towards the back they are growing vertically, whereas past the mid-line between the vertex and the front the hairs are growing forward, almost 90 degrees, perpendicular from each other... I wish I could do a home trichoscan but ain't willing to shell out $50 for a USB microscope (I do have an Intel QX3 but it won't run in Vista) :/

Maybe so, man. If you don't think you're thinning, I don't want to convince you other wise because that would be harsh.

take a look of my head shot. I think is looks similiar to yours and I can tell you I for sure have thinned out.

almost 4 weeks from a complete shave or about 2 weeks from a #3

Hmm... interesting...

be as it may, my main concern is my temples... I haven't seen too much improvement in my temples after 2 months, and I want to know if it will get any better...
