Stand up comedy.. We like to point out the bald shaming in the entertainment industry, specifically shows/movies. One area that seems to be unscathed is stand up comedy.. MANY many popular bald comedians.

Just an observation.

weird man, I just thought about this today too.

You don't need hair to be funny. And when you're ugly you have to be funny, or else your seen as a loser.
If you're good looking there's no need to be funny, you already have an easy time getting girls and friends.
That's why few good looking men are truly funny, and even fewer women.

This still goes against the "baldness is relegated to lesser roles in show biz" rhetoric. I do understand what you're saying though.

Stand up seems to be less about looks and more about talent than other entertainment segments. I can dig it..

The best comedians are usually cynical and will have a non-idealized and realistic view of the world. It's why suicide is quite high in comedians I believe. Also, of course, people use comedy as a coping mechanism.

That’s part of the reason comedians are almost twice as likely to commit suicide than the typical American, according to findings by suicide statistician Steven Stack. Many comedians also have tumultuous personal lives and struggle with drugs and alcohol. Some well-known (and unexpected) comedian suicides are SNL cast member Charles Rocket and HBO special regular Richard Jeni.

Yes, I've observed the same phenomenon among French-speaking comedians. Almost non of them are good-looking...

Except two of them (Arnaud Tsamère and Jeremy Ferrari if you want to Google them), and guess what? They're the least funny of all the French comedians, I've tried to watch their shows, but I had to stop 15 minutes because it was so painfully unfunny.

So how do they get by? 90% of their fans is female of course, they lack talent but their good looks (and godly NW1's) compensates for that.

Great French comedians like Dieudonné or Jean-Marie Bigard may not be good-looking, but their shows could make me die laughing. And of course, it's not surprising that they don't have as much female fans.

It's really women who glorify mediocre artists just because they have good looks. They'll also vote for a candidate just because they think he looks good.

Of course these good-looking artists with not much talent will quickly be forgotten, usually after their good looks fade.
