I am a very sceptical person and normally I let nature do its thing. 5 years ago I had a healthy looking hair (really thick), then graudally it dissapeared....until there was hardly anything left on the top or crown (sides are fine and dandy, REALLY thick hair there).

I was upset about it but learnt to live with it. My partner kept nagging me to try regaine but I usually replied that it won't work as its hereditery etc. In the end she won (as always) and i started using regaine in december 2004.....i took a picture of my head at that time and stored it on the computer. I've used it exactly as specified on the bottle (twice a day, 12 hours apart), I thought i'd notice change on my head but wasn't quite sure and my partner hasn't said anything eiter. After all, the results are really slow and it takes a while. Today I decided to take another picture of my scalp...to my HUGE surprise the difference was incredible......I've read on the forums here and other places that maximum regrowth appears when you use regaine/rogaine in combination with Propecia...So i've just ordered 3 months supply of generic propecia from http://www.drugs-one.com.

Here's a picture.......let me know your thoughts...and NO, i'm not advertising regaine/rogaine...this is my story..

I'VE EDITED THE POST AND POSTED A NEWER UPDATED PIC HISTORY. SE POST FURTHER DOWN.

Do you think that adding propecia to the mix will result in even better regrowth? Or possibly a full head of hair again??

It looks like a big difference dude; I'd change the topic.

Propecia helps you keep hair with little regrowth. As I understand it, minoxidil helps regrow hair. It certainly can't hurt to combine the two and add nizoral.

I'm no expert, but as far as I can tell, that is some great regrowth for JUST minoxidil. Congrats dude!

Nice growth on the minoxidil. I would continue Regaine and add the Propecia -- I think it might improve your hair significantly.

Random...I'm Aries.

After reading up on finasteride on these forums and others I think I'll try the 0.5mg dose a day instead to start off with (1mg cut in two). Or would it be better to do 1 tablet every other day (i read that finasteride blocks DHT for several days)?

I'd like to point out Astrology is crap, and that genetics are not determined by the month in which you're born.

Stick to the science/remedies, such as the big 3, but I think if you try to give people a false hope because they're Aries or whatever, you're doing a disservice to the community.

Hi all,

I'm still pleased with my regrowth just using Minoxidil (Rogaine). And I'm still waiting for my pack of finasteride which hopefully should be with me in a few days. I'm really optimistic right now and although I'm not getting my hope's up im kind of hoping for a full head of hair when I add finasteride to the mix......

Below is a timeline of my 4 months on minoxidil....I'll update the pics again in a month or so.

Here's my monthly update.

So far the timeline is:

December - Started minoxidil
January - Some regrowth
February - More regrowth
March - Even more regrowth
11th April - Started on propecia 0.5mg per day

The last 2 day's I've been shedding like mad, never seen anything like it and if it continues i'll be as bald as my december picture in a week or 2. I run my fingers trhough my hair and I see 10-15 hairs in my hand. However, they seem to be mainly colourless or very light coloured hair that falls out although there are some full terminal hairs in there as well.

Not sure if this is due to the propecia I started last week or that the hair minoxidil has regrown for me has ended its life and a new stronger one is coming underneath......I didn;t think propecia could cause shedding after 1 weeks use only.

If anyone has had similar experiences I'd be happy to know. Whatever happens I will ofcourse continue my treatment for at least 1 - 2 years, just had a bit of a shock the last couple of day.

Oh dear....major shedding is getting worse.

As I mentioned in my post above on the 21st April I'm experiencing a major shed. This shed is still going strong now, 2 weeks later. (3 weeks since I started propecia)

My hair is now very similar to what it was in February. I'm determined to ride it out (after all, i don't have any other options) and hoping that new strong hair is about to grow out!

I read in Cassin's sticky post that shedded hairs grow back out 2-3 months after they shedded....that seems an awfully long time?

I hope your progress has continued!

quick question. would you consider your hair loss frontal hair loss? I bought a box of rogaine....and it said it is for vertex only and not intended for frontal hair loss. I'm not sure what frontal hair loss is. i'm balding on the whole top of my head and wasn't quite sure if I should try rogaine because didn't want to risk lossing any more of my hair because it said there usually is a 2 week sheding phase. And what is considered the crown of your head? Thanks for the info.

The front is your front and the crown is the top back of your head.
It has to say on the back that it will not work in the front because the studies they did was on the crown. it DOES work on the front as well but they can't say that because they don't want to pay millions of dollars to document it. It won't work that well on your temples though.

Excpect a fair amount of shedding and once your on rogaine you have to stay on it for life....just thought I'd let you know. If you use it, see some results and then quit you will loose all you have gained within 3-6 months.
