Not even 18 yet and things are looking grim. What the f*** is this? male pattern baldness at this age. What do I even do? Or do I just bite the bullet quite literally and cut my losses(joke kinda)

Yeah that’s male pattern baldness, and since your only 17 it’s aggressive. get on finasteride when you turn 18 if you wanna keep what you have. Some people say 18 is too early, and I kinda agree, but plenty of people have gone on at 18 and have no problems. See a derm to confirm

Indeed male pattern baldness. I was probably at a similar spot yo you to be honest. Bad news: your young and its aggresive. Good news: its still not over if you want to fight.

I don’t think anything else will shed besides those temples and in 1/2 years you can get on finasteride. For now, there really aint sh*t you can do. Minoxidil is you’re up for it.

looks very aggressive especially for someone under 25. Have you always kind of had a receded hairline as a child?

Your young so see a dermatologist, you need the BIG3:

Finasteride
Minoxidil
Ketaconazole

Hey mate

Looks like you are receding at the temples. Don’t worry about it too much. It looks like you have good thickness, and will likely be at a similar level when you’re 18. At that point you can choose to take finasteride to maintain that level.

I had very similar recession when I was 20. I started finasteride and now my hairline is better than when I started, I’m 24 now. I do only take a 1/3 dose to prevent side effects and it works for me. In my case it stopped receding immediately, and took a few years to start actually growing back and getting thicker.

Plenty of people are in or have been in the same boat as you, and I know it’s hard to accept at first. In the end there are more important things to worry about in life.

The future looks brighter everyday for us folk, who knows what lies ahead for hair transplant technology (which is already pretty good). If finasteride works for you, then you can have a full head of hair again in no time if that’s something you really want.

All the best mate.

He’s too young for fina. I would would recommended he looks into it before taking a drug as powerful and as controversial as finasteride at such a young age
