I'm 25 and started noticing shedding a little over a year ago. I've got bad genetics (grandfather was almost completely bald by 30) so i was determined to do anything to slow it down. I started taking 1mg of propecia but that didnt seem to do to much by itself to stop the shedding . So I started using rogaine foam. since my grandfather lost all the hair on the top of his head (kept it around the sides) thats where i've been using the rogaine. Half a cap ful doesn't cover it (the hair i do have gets in the way) so i basically keep applying it till i have the top of my head covered. When i use the liquid it takes almost 3ml to cover my head.

Anyone have any tips to for applying both the foam and liquid, so i can cut down the amount i'm using. I'm operating on the logic that since i am using it on an area larger than what the directions specify i will need more. but even then i think i'm using to much.

Definitely keep taking the Propecia. It helped me out alot after a while. Personally I just use 1mg Propecia, 4ml/day 5% Minoxidil (twice the recommended amount), and Nizoral. If you look at the studies, 5% Minoxidil is only marginally better in the long run than 2%, so I figure at twice the suggested dose of 2ml/day of 5%, any more is probably unnecessary. 5% produced drastically better results at 3 months, but only marginally better results at 12 months. Gives me the freedom to not worry about getting every drop directly on my scalp.

Also keep in mind that the Minoxidil is not intended to get right on each and every hair. It stays in the skin for a few days. As long as you end up hitting most of hairs directly every few days or so you're probably fine. It's as it was intended. If you shave it all off it will probably work better, but then whats the point of using it in the first place? :)

I also bought Dutasteride, Copper Peptides, and went nuts with all that stuff. In the end I decided I was insane and that $200 per month is way too much to be spending on my hair. Also the concerns about gyno on Dutasteride, unproven long-term effectiveness, etc. It's just not worth it. Just stick with what it says on the bottle, maybe a little more.
