Beta Sitosterol as a topical?

I've been using Beta SItosterol orally for about a year now. I've noticed however that it ha lowered my sex drive. I take only 160mg a day. I'm thinking of changing it up to only 4 times a week and trying out a a topical regimen through my panax ginseng shampoo. My question is, how? How do I get the powder to dissolve in my shampoo? I would expect that it wouldn't do much for absorption if still in powder form. Also, do I need to add anti-inflammatories as well? I'm sort of new to this topical thing. I'm already adding some more ginseng to my shampoo because I have a feeling it's mild. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I've been taking it orally for about a year and it has definitely had an effect on my hair regrowth. I realize it doesn't work for all people too. Just depends on the person, like many other regimens I read on here. I'm willing to see if it will have similar results if applied topically. Would you have any idea about that?

It works as a topical but don't expect too much. It was one of the ingredients of Scalmed. Scalpmed was basically overpriced 5% minoxidil, Beta Sitosterol and Saw Palmeto. I would give it a try with other things like minoxidil, Nizoral shampoo and spironolactone (or finasteride).

Thanks rcom440. Would you know how to add it to a shampoo? I have powder caps. Do I just pour it in my shampoo and stir it around? Or do I need to dissolve it beforehand somehow?

DaPump22, don't add it to the shampoo. It needs to stay on your scalp for a long time to do anything. There is no way it will get absorbed if you add those powder caps to the shampoo unless you are planning to keep shampoo on your head for around 4 hours... Well that's a bad idea anyway as it would overdry your hair.

Do you use minoxidil ? If you do, add those crushed caps (powder form) to bottle of minoxidil. Just shake it before every use.

rcom440, I use Rogaine foam. Is it even possible to add it to that? Also, I have Panax Ginseng shampoo. I've read that ginseng has shown effects of hair growth. But is that also kinda useless to use in a shampoo since it only stays on my head for a few minutes? I was thinking of adding a few powder pills of ginseng and some ginseng liquid extract as well as the beta sitosterol powder. Would this all be better to add to my minodoxil instead of my shampoo though?

Alright. So this is what I'm thinking. I'm going to buy rogaine foam 5%. I will also buy liquid Rogaine. I have had some sides with beta sitosterol when taking orally. I was taking 160mg per day. Like I said, I am using a panaz ginseng shampoo. I'm thinking about adding some Korean ginseng pills (powder) to my shampoo. Why not lol. Then I'm going to use Rogaine foam in the morning. I used the liquid before and it dired the **** out of my scalp. But if I only use it at night, I think I can deal with it. On Monday Wednesday, and Friday, I will take one 160mg beta sitosterol cap. On those days I will add some ginseng powder to my Rogaine liquid, when applying at night. Just an fyi, some texts that have been conductued have shown promising results for ginseng as a topical (and even orally) in a hairloss regimen. On Sunday, Tuesday, Thurs, Sat, I will not take any beta sitosterol orally, but I will open up the cap and pour some of the powder from the cap to my liquid Rogaine. What do you guys think? Any comments? Also, I've seen a few people say that beta sitosterol could possibly counteract Rogaine because of the way they work? Any evidence for this or is it just a hunch?

I read someone say that adding Beta Sis powder from caps to minodoxil liquid seemed iffy to them. They said they feared the magnesium stearate in the beat sis (since almost all caps are not just pure beta sis) will somehow counteract the minodoxil? Any thought guys? I'm starting my new regimen tonight. Can't deal with the sexual side effects of all the oral beta sis anymore.
