I have been following the forum for quite a while but I have never posted anything before. Without the forum, I would not be on the big 3 and I think it was the best decision in my life to get on it. I think it is important with all the horror stories that people do not forget to post their success stories here.
I am 36 and a Norwood 2. My hairline matured in my mid 20s and my dad was a Norwood 3-4 with visible bald spot at the vertex at my age. Once I realized that my hair recession progressed and my vertex got thinner at 35, I started doing some research and found the big 3.
Month 1-3
Generic Finasteride 1mg (daily)
Nizoral 1% (2 times a week)
Original Rogain 5% (liquid at night)
Original Rogain 5% (foam in the morning)
Month 4-7
Generic Finasteride 1mg (daily)
Original Rogain 5% (liquid at night)
Original Rogain 5% (foam in the morning)
So far, so good. I have changed to big 2 in month 3 since I have had bad shedding with Nizoral. Once I had stopped the Nizoral treatment, the shedding stopped. My mature hairline has not improved, however, I had some visible regrowth in month 3 and thicker and much darker looking hair in month 5. Overall, I am quite satisfied and the shedding was brought down to a minimum. A lot of people actually asked my if I dyed my hair since it got much darker. The vertex has also improved. No side effects at all (maybe peeing more but I don't know).
Shedding timeline
Month 1: 30-40 hairs (during shower)
Month 2: 40-50 hairs (during shower)
Month 3: 20-30 hairs (during shower)
Month 4: 10-20 hairs (during shower)
Month 5: 3-15 hairs (during shower)
Month 6: 20-30 hairs (during shower)
Month 7: 8-20 hairs (during shower)
It seems to go in cycles. Especially after months 2-3 it went down and went up in month 6. I hope that helps. I will try to post some pictures later this week.
