Here's another gel that I was using about two months ago in my never ending quest for the perfect hair product for my thinning hair. As stated before, I have naturally wavy and somewhat coarse hair. So, I took the dive and tried this highly acclaimed hair gel.
Pros:
1. It's a medium weight gel. It doesn't give that 'wet' look, but a more natural hold while keeping a more natural shine.
2. It's very easy to apply and since it's made to be used with a hair dryer, it gives a decent hold and a nice oomph!
3. The pump works as it should and pretty much guarantees that you won't have a sticky bottle to mess with.
4. The scent it barely noticeable once applied.
Cons:
1. It's not a miracle worker. It'll give you volume, but it really doesn't add a great deal of thickness.
2. The initial scent is strong. It'll go away once worked through the hair dryer brushing, but it's there nevertheless.
3. Propylene Glycol. Yep, if you're sensitive to it, you will itch. Too bad I didn't read the label more carefully until after my scalp irritation showed up.
4. PVP. I've mentioned in other reviews that this is a plastic that bonds to your hair. It can cause thick areas of hair at the cost of making thin areas look really thin. While the effect is less noticeable with shorter hair and since this is a 'medium hold' gel, it rears it's ugly head as your hair grows longer.
5. After 8 hours, it will begin to flake. A huge disappointment for sure and at $12 a bottle, this is inexcusable.
6. The "Hello San Francisco" factor. You'll definitely feel it while shopping for this gel in the women's section.
:gay:
So onward, my quest continues.
