I rarely post so I figure I'd do a Your Story.
Family History
Dad and his brothers had perfect hair (I mean insanely thick bushy hair)
Mom's side has great hair.
Sisters & Cousins all have hair (two older male cousins have receding hairlines)
I had thick curly hair up until I turned 26 when I noticed I was shedding like a bear, at that moment I regret not getting finasteride immediately, but what was I to think, it didnt run in the family.
Saw a couple of doctors they all had different opinions, finally decided to give finasteride a try last August, @ .5 every other day.
Then moved to .5 ED in January, I was still shedding and not really caring because I ditched the gotti look and kept it high and tight.
Well by May, everything looks like it it had thickened back up to a decent density so i started wearing it messy again and moving to a full 1 MG. From then till now, my hair seems to have gone downhill back to where I started :-(.
A couple of things to note, had real bad dandruff in the past year, tried everything nizoral, t-gel, steroid creams, you name it. Then a 1 month and half ago, it went away or 95%. Still shedding all over though.
I am a Norwood 1.5 (no recession except .25 inch on left side) but a huge diffuse thinner. I dont event have a bald spot in the back, just diffuse thinning.
I just want propecia to hold the line until HM comes out or something else.
A wonderful side effect in Propecia is what it has done to my body. I've always been a gym rat, and I had heard that propecia will spike test levels by 10% to make up for the reduction in DHT. I have to say the vascularity and size i've gained has been awesome, right now Im about 215 @ 11% bodyfat. With the loss of confindence in loosing my hair, I've gained with my body.
For all you diffussed thinners out there, keep it real.
