body P.H. impact on degree of hair loss

In my concern for cancer prevention I researched body p.h 's impact on health and its intesting to know just how wide ranged our p.h impacts our health. It effects our risk of cancer, as well as our degree of arthritis experienced as we age, as well as degree of heart burn at any given time, ect ect... note: the above info is medical fact.
Anyway, more research uncovered the fact that as we age our p.h becomes more acidic due to our western diet for the most part. Easterners with thier diet consisting of highly alkiline foods such as green leafy veggies and less fast food and meat, experience less hair loss. But in the last half of this century they too have been seeing an increase in thier hairloss cases and its because of thier p.h. via diet changes.
With more research I found the minerals potassium, magnesium, and zinc (which is touted as being beneficial to hair loss) to be abundant in leafy veggies and very alkuine to the body. Also, found out potassium is used to lessen water retention and would therefore support Brian's scalp hydration theory by pointing out that a scalp with a deficiency in essential potassium and magnesium over a long period of time would impact fullness of hair.
The western diet not only encourages dht retention via lack of blood flow due to micro clogging from trans fats but lack of exercise as well.
If your geneticly predisposed to hairloss the worst thing you can do is live the cliche' western adult life. A decade or more of this behavior will leave your scalp very thin with no thanks to dht.
So in responce I've chaged my diet a little by drinking V8 juice in the morning and evening and started taking grape fruit pectin casules to lessen trans fat impact and I take magnesium, potassium, zinc .
I wonder if maybe a topical approach of edta, pottasium, magnesium, zinc as well as Xandrox would help???
Not:the majority of antioxidant acids as well as azelaic acid and retin-a are indeed alkiline to our bodies despite their being termed "acids". Lemon juice is very alkiline to our bodies chemistry. Our bodies desire an alkulinity.

This is a good lead. I was told there is no such thing as an alkaline food, only higher and lower degrees of acidity. Barley grass and wheat grass powders reportedly help the alkaline balance.
Combating Hypoxia is a key theme.
I am getting results, not understanding the science in any great depth, but eating a non toxic and detoxifying diet is doing me good. Omega 3, licorice root, and a variety of herbal teas.
If I ever understand and explain what exactly is growing my new hair to the satisfaction of all critics, I will expect a gong!

Willywonka,

Thats a good post. Ive posted her ad nauseum about the rural Japanese and how they almost never bald vs. city Japanese who bald MUCH more often and since it contradicts certain persons theories of baldness who post alot here, they usually attack it by refusing to post about it by acting like its never happened.

Its obvious that diets have something to do with accelerating baldness. Think about it, rural Japanese eat lots of soy and green leafy vegetables while city dwellers eat fast food and coke. Its obvious that something in their lifestyle has to be MAKING this baldness happen so much more because these are genetically THE SAME PEOPLE. It may be overzealous shamppoing also effects them. (note----Ive come to believe along with some others that shampooing is better for the hair proper and the scalp should only be briefly and gently shampooed with warm water for a few seconds-----no more than you would wash your arm in the shower with just a couple of passes because scalp skin is much more tender than arm skin, etc.).

Hey michael, if you're going to hang out here, stop with the snide comments. If you don't like it here, don't post here. Twice today you've made sarcastic ridiculous statements about people who post here, and the treatments they use.

I will never understand why guys come here and complain about how much the place sucks.

You are free to discuss any theory you want here. People are also free to disagree with you. You're on a site where solid data means something. If you have it, present it. If you don't, expect people to disagree.

Either way, you are entitled to discuss topics and theories with or without solid data backing them. I encourage it.

Hairlosstalk,
Wasnt talkin' about you in the last post but some others (who I like by the way).

I dont think HairLossTalk.com sucks, I like it as a matter of fact. Its a good site that seems to try to identify the snake oil and warn the readers about em'.

My complaint was concerning how some really knowledgeable posters see and observation that might not "jive" with their particular theory and instead of addressing that "there may be a bit more to male pattern baldness than my theories or ideas" they just ignore the observations.

Armando once posted on the observation about rural Japanese. By the way Hairlosstalk, what do you think about the observed phenomena of rural Japanese folk, who have soy and vegetable diets balding so MUCH less than the guys in Tokyo? Japanese dermatologists certainly are impressed by this and are looking at it.

I work for a Japanese company HairLossTalk.com, I see the young guys from Japan and how so many of them have receeded temples and beginnings of bald spots when NONE OF THE OLDER JAPANESE I WORK WITH HAVE ANY LOSS AT ALL. Im guessing the whole milk and red meat contain much more testosterone to be converted to DHT, but freely admit I dont know exactly why that it. Willywonka's suggestion that perhaps their more acidic diets may play a role. Im open to the suggestions and dont like to commit to precise baldness theories because if we knew exactly what was happening with male pattern baldness, we have cured it by now.

Willywonka,

The PH of colas is something like 2.5 so they are very acidic. Just drinking fruit juices (other than cranberry) with meals could have a big effect in the long term on one's PH level.

Almost all fruits and vegetables are alkaline (with the notable exception of the potato). All dairy and meat are acidic along with any white flour product or pastas. Sound familiar?
We are WAY acidic in the west and it is almost certainly the cause of gastritus and upset stomach. It would be just plain old healthy to drink water or fruit juices and eat veggies and fruits with meals as side dishes instead of just a burger with a white bread bun with a side of french fries served with a coke before and ice cream and cake desert. ALL OF THAT has an acidic PH balance.

If you think about it, we should strive to have a PH balance near that of water which is something like 7.5. I have read that having a low PH (acidic) makes the body struggle a little harder to deliver oxygen to all of its cells also and increase hypotrophidsm in women. Neat stuff

Michael,

I'm not arguing with your entire theory, which might be valid or not, but I myself worked in a company with a lot of Japanese personnel, and asome of the "older" guys were in fact balding...roughly in the same proportion than the young ones. Couldn't this just be a simple matter of racial genetics instead? i mean, if NO ONE balded before in Eastern Asia, i'd definitely agree with you, but it's definitely provable that there were bald men in countries like Japan centuries before they adopted any Western habits.

I actually live in Japan, and yes, there are much less people bald here, but those that are bald are both young and old.

I do think that balding does have something to do not only with genetics but also with the diet. But to what extent I cannot say.

well I've read many theory's and it does show that Caucasians are more susceptible to hair loss than any other race.

Number one dairy is very acidic and has some 50 odd bio-available hormones....... thats neither here nor there however

The post WWII "baldning of the Japanese" is discussed quite a bit over there. Before WWII, Japanese did NOT eat a Western Diet and baldness was rare. Now, they do eat a diet like we do and are much taller, elegantly built, and baldning. http://www.mothernature.com/Library/Boo ... 21/119.cfm

check that link out. Here is another here http://www.holistic-online.com/Remedies ... s-diet.htm and here is one more concerning the higher rates of baldness now seen in Japan here http://www.diagnose-me.com/cond/C489728.html

And here is the BBC' take on the issue here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3607815.stm
