I walked into the pharmacy with my prescription the other day. The prescription says *not licensed in women". The pharmacist didn't say anything. Unlike my other pharmacists who asked me why I take spironolactone, this one just silently packed up my drugs.

It's very cheap.

It says finasteride on the tablet. Pretty sure anyone who's heard of finasteride would think of the drug if they had a peak at my little tablets case.

I'm really scared I would completely lose ground. Im really scared it would give me a major skin breakout. My previous one from spironolactone has left me loads of scars. I'm scared I'll have 0 sex drive. My sex drive has been very low since spironolactone. I'm really scared there will be a huge shed. I don't even think they make hair piece just for the sides as my sides are very bald at the mo.

But finasteride is my last resort. I feel like I'm banking on something that would most likely not work.

I bought the finasteride 5mg a month ago and I still haven't taken it. spironolactone doesn't work. minoxidil didn't work. Why would finasteride work for me? What if it didn't? Am I gonna try dutasteride, PRP, or loads of other craps that most likely won't work either?

I really wanna fight cos I love my hair so much but I'm just sick and tired.

Finasterid may not work for you but it may also save your hair. However, if you don't take it, you will definitely lose our hair. As I understand, finasteride works differently from Sprio. Just because one med didn't work for you, it doesn't mean other wouldn't work for you either. All you can do is try different drugs and stick with the ones that work for you.

No drug working makes me wonder what is your problem. I don't want to be negative or bully but when even the most potent drugs don't work there must be something else. Have you had your thyroid checked? Did you do blood tests? Do you have nutritional deficiencies?

Post wet hair maybe? It's easy and maybe some user recognizes her own pattern and may give tips.

My advice to you is to start at a very low dose.

5mg is definitely way too much, I presume he told you to buy a pill cutter and go for 1.25 mg/day? If you can cut it even further somehow do so, or dissolve the finasteride tablet into your minoxidil solution to drive the dose arbitrarily down. You should need no more than 0.20 mg/day.

If it craters your sex drive, stop taking it.

If you want your last attempt at a real effective treatment to work, don't take this advice.

Says the man who didn't review the science.

She's also smaller than we are by the way, around 5'2 and 105 lbs.

Research shows 5mg a day effective for women so I asked my derm if I should take 5mg and he says it's an option so he prescribed it to me.

Aww man stop it with the science, every finasteride study is flawed, look at the rates of people still losing hair on finasteride, look at the rate of side effects. Also, look at my fkn scalp after thinking .25 was enough, I almost fucked myself. .5 and higher to at the least attempt to maintain. I know other users agree

When my hair loss started I had everything checked and I'm healthy. I don't know why. I guess I'm just cursed.

I've already explained to you that there's a huge difference between measuring an objective parameter (hair counts, hair diameter) and measuring subjective rates of side effects (how do you feel?)

And again if you need 0.50, then 0.25 should work for her she is half your weight.

There are LOADS of us on these forums like this man!! every one says, "hmmm, there must be something off with your physiology".. NO!! Most of us have had multiple, thorough blood panels. Let me make this simple -

1) ages 0-32 - DID NOT TAKE FINASTERIDE - results? thick, full hair from ages 0-32 (slight thinning from ages 28-32)

2) Age 32-33 - DID TAKE FINASTERIDE - results? The sensation of f*****g termites devouring my flesh and RAPID HAIR LOSS!!

oh, but it must be something else, huh?

Why... DEAR GOD WHY?!?! When the body is efficient in counteracting MANY MANY medications is it SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND THAT IT MAY COUNTERACT FINASTERIDE?!?!?!

JESUS........ f*****g...... CHRIST!!!!!!!!

Does dosage of finasteride have anything to do with body weight? 5mg seems to be the standard for women.

I had a bout of Telogen Effluvium when I was 19. Resolved itself. A year after I took accutane. I started to lose hair again.

It's either that I never stopped shedding after the age of 19 (I had very very very thick hair so don't really care about hair sheds), or accutane gave me permanent hair loss.

I'm hopeless whatsoever.

Now looking back I realised I have been dealing with hair loss way too young for way too long. Why don't I just get a hair system and enjoy my youth? :(

I think it's more constructive if:

1) you post hair + wet hair, no big deal.
2) ask Doctor to do blood tests in order to assess hormonal situation + thyroid (in general endocrine system), any kind of diabetes etc. I think it's free. Just ask to do them, it's healthy too (if you're lucky, or unlucky depending on how you see it, you may detect early signs of cancer).

Female hair loss is even lesser understood than male hair loss and we don't know sh*t about male hair loss.

In fact, any kind of hair loss is unnatural and a symptom of a dysfunctional physiology. We balding men, for example, have sensible androgen receptors and higher risk of heart disease. If this isn't something off, I don't know what it is. Also women's hair loss is an unknown chimera that goes beyond hormones so a blood check it's completely advisable. You're being a f*****.

I have done a full blood test.
I have done the overobsessing my health and trying to think what was wrong with my body that could cause hair loss.
I even hoped I had a benign tumour that could cause hair loss.
Some people say their accutane induced hair loss stopped after they cleaned their bowel. Some say they stopped their hair loss by sorting out their gastrointestinal problem. Some said they stopped hair loss after having a certain diet.
I can't spend my whole life trying to figure out what could be wrong with me. I have done two years of that and I would rather wear a wig than go back.

My androgen receptors are anything but sensible... and, I am only a f***** when I am beating off on your Dad's face. :p

I sh*t you not I can't look at black women anymore after acknowledging this fact; even here in Europe they all wear straight haired wigs and it's too f*****g obvious to a Norwood spotter. Generally you can't see even a bit of scalp in their hair part. Gross.

What if I show you what is truly homo by shoving my dick directly up to your *** while you masturbate? I know you would wriggle in pleasure for the multiple prostate orgasms I can give you for free. Just call me ok and I'll be there, fulfilling both your dreams and your anus with a thick, ceaseless stream of semen.

no homo tho

Just post hair pics then. Use paint to censor face

If you'd see their actual hair you'd know why. Some black girls hair are so unmanageable that when thEy do get it straight it looks like an oily greasy mess.

I've also heard half or more of them have braids-induced traction alopecia because they've been wearing tight braids since 6 yo, so they resort to wigs. Damn that would totally suck.
