This is f...... disgrace.

Scientists took a skin cell and coaxed it into acting like an embryo, producing embryonic-like stem cells that could theoretically be turned into any cell in the body. What was described as a "breakthrough" is how these cells were coaxed -- by placing them in an acidic bath.

In an editorial accompanying the retraction, Nature said that "errors were found in the figures, parts of the methods descriptions were found to be plagiarized, and early attempts to replicate the work failed.

This one was way too good to be true. Yet I still fell for it back then, but now we know how far some of these greedy bastards will go :(

And this is why there will never be a real cure for hair loss. Because they are all lying through their teeth to get money... these guys just got caught in the lie.

Post Korean hair congress, this section is a sad state of affairs and has reverted back to the middle ages and witchdoctor crackpots taking wild stabs in the dark desperately. There really is no hope for our kind.

Not a very logical statement. If someone really wanted 'to get the money' they would commercialise a high efficacy product/treatment.

Logically, we should have had something better than finasteride by now (at least). But alas, even logic fails us. Hope isn't very logical either considering how histogen I mean history keeps repeating itself. Hope is a fools game when it comes to hair loss.

I feel you, I personally am on finasteride and minoxidil and still losing hair like there's no tomorrow. This is probably the worst disease in the history of civilization. It makes no efing sense at all, and everyone with hair is loving it, feeling superior. I can't take this sh!t no more!

I wonder how many of the regular posters in this section are bald. They seem remotely disattached to the emotional aspect and focus purely on the scholastics like a hobby, like a play thing. A fun puzzle to objectively figure out without any sense of urgency because it doesn't effect them on a personal level.

As opposed to an urgent non-objective approach?

You really need to take a step back and look at things from a different perspective. I have been suffering from hairloss for a decade and yeah it sucks but worst disease in history?? get real!!! I was diagnosed with cancer four years ago and theres no comparison.

Nowadays I look at things differently and hairloss no longer worries me to the extent it once did. Its still there and I wish it wasnt but there really are more important things in life.

Yes, I know, was speaking out of rage, wasn't meant to be literal. Also, would like to point out that suffering from any health condition is relative. Like you said, it was only until you got cancer that hairloss seems minor. For is on the other hand, it's the worse we have.

Yeah I get you, I understand it was said out of rage and that all health problems are relative but thats my point. I know how easy it is to just focus on your hair and to think its the most important thing there is.. I have been there for far too long myself and wasted so much time stressing about hairloss when I should have been out enjoying life.

Thats why I said try and look at the bigger picture.. the only thing that has changed with me is my perspective my hair is still crap but Im much happier than I used to be..

To be honest, if I could be born again and choose between:
a) dying of cancer at 45 years old without ever losing hair
b) being a NW5 loser since my mid-late 20s

I will take a) anytime.

Also, at least cancer is fast and it either kills you or you get out alive, but when hairloss hits badly it makes you a walking zombie for life. It's like living in hell if you are young, unless you are asexual, aromantic and asocial, or you manage to make those 3 part of your new self with no trouble.

Cancer patients are seen as heroic and brave while bald guys are seen as low lives. Did you sign up on a waiting list to get cancer? Did you volunteer to get cancer? No? It just happened, kinda like hair loss just happens.

I agree SO MUCH! With everything you said.

Except that cancer is fast. I guess with no treatment it can be, but I know someone who died after 10+ years of cancer and at the end she could hardly breathe on her own and couln't eat.

That said, baldness is like a zombie, living dead person. Throw being a girl into the mix and you have a recipe for disaster.

Yeah with treatment you can extend your life some years; without it, it kills you pretty fast I believe.

Btw, you sound like a wonderful girl, except when you say that women have it harder with hair loss :p... I don't think that's true nowadays. Being sexually attractive is crucial to lead a normal life for men too, especially at young ages (20s/30s). I'm also a walking zombie :/

There is a serious lack of perspective in this thread.
