how about 0.5 mg everyday? I wouldn't feel confident that your proposed doses would be effective.

Yeah Bryan answer the man!!! You have been summoned!!!!! :hump:

Ill add my opinion anyway: Why not just stop the Saw Palmetto, Grow Up and take the recommended dosage? Why would you want studies for 0.25mg??? All the necessary studies have been done on 1mg! FOR A REASON.
Give me strength.............

come on dude, you must know as well as anyone else that Finasteride has caused a ton of side effects in some people even as low as 0.5 and possibly even 0.25. There are thousands of people who have suffered PERMANENT (or close to it) side effects at least from 1mg.

I don't want to start an argument, but don't treat him like he's an idiot for not wanting to overload his body with it..

I tried using finasteride 1mg and 0.5mg every day, but had strong effects with these doses

I'm not trying to start an argument but I very highly doubt that there are thousands of people who have suffered permanent side effects. The drug would not be on the market if that were the case---and please no conspiracy theories.

I have to ask you to provide proof of this statement and I ask it not be the few dozen that post on that site.

I don't remember EVER saying that Saw Palmetto doesn't have side effects, I merely pointed out that you can see 1500 registered users on that site, which means there are probably many, many more who haven't found the forum.

I dunno man, even if it's not thousands, people HAVE been left impotent or with long lasting or permanent problems.

I'm sorry it's just the truth. I have nothing hugely against Finasteride - I think it's a fantastic move in the right direction and it's on the cards for me too if I feel a need to grab it - but... I'm only commenting on what I see.

I don't think it will be that huge, I have heard a few stories of people who are using SP as part of a regimen with sufficient success. It's just a systemic 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that's all, and I needed one. I'm using it because it's natural, freely available, cheap and easy to get hold of.

So is there a difference in the way finasteride works to the way beta-sitosterol works? Scientifically I mean. It says here Finasteride "binds" to 5ar and beta-sitosterol inhibits it. Hmm, that implies finasteride... what.. REPLACES dht as it binds to 5ar? And beta-sitosterol inhibits it's production?

As finasteride goes, I might come back to it later who knows, probably on a 0.5mg dose. But that of course means going to my doctor, convincing him to give it to me, hoping it's cheap, getting repeat prescriptions etc. And then I probably can't stock up on it as easily because it will be restricted by prescription, which will make things tricky if and when I want to travel.

For the moment, I'm just fine, but I would be interested in hearing about the scientific differences between the mechanisms of the two drugs.

I use proscar for 3 months.Today i got another package. In Romania you can buy it without prescription.Don't u love this country? U can smoke and get drugs without too much problems. :D I think finasteride and beta-sisterol works different.Maybe u should better take the active ingredient(beta sisterol)in SP,i saw is more potent.

haha I'm jealous now :)

Yeah if I could get it without prescription nice and cheap I would be far more inclined to, but I also do love natural remedies where possible, they make me feel good ^_^

I was gonna get this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Saw-Palmetto-Pyge ... 33599fd467

Hmm, I guess I should decide between that and beta-sitosterol!
