every hair i ever lose has a little bulb at the end - this is a good thing apparently? I thought it was the fillicle dying - but apparently its juts the normal shedding of a fillicle going into a resting phase??? I currently have been losing like 20 - 30 hairs in shower every or every other day... no visable loss anywhere tho - wierd

I don't know if that is a good or a bad thing. Does anyone know????I have the exact same thing.I'm guessing it's just part of losing one's hair.

Stingray just went over it in the 'Follicles falling out' thread. I was under the impression that the bulbs were sebum, but Sting says otherwise.

Sup Sting! Good to see that we pop in and out around the same timeframe... Yeah guys it all comes down to this:

Black Bulbs - Be sad
White Bulbs - Be glad

The bulbs can get dark due to dirt, grime, etc. so I don't know if that's a good rule of thumb xzel.

I wouldn't worry about the color of the bulb bomb, but thinning towards the root is not good I reckon. It is better to thin upwards toward the tip -- shows your hair is thickening up. But I'm not a hair specialist ...

How long have you been on finasteride? Could be finasteride's way of showing you, it's doing something ... I remember when I first when on finasteride. 3 years ago, I shed a ton of hair (and I mean fill-up-the-sink). A lot of them were vellus but a lot of them were terminals and anagens too.

Right now I'm shedding like crazy too and I have no idea why. The hairs that are thinning are thinnest at the tip and thicker at the root. I don't know what's going on. I just buzzed my head just to say, "f*** it."

Hey

Drinkrum, I wonder why you'd be shedding too? I've heard a number of people posting here about how they had a huge shed around the 3-year mark. It seems like it might be logical if hair is cycling back in and finished up a growth cycle of about 2.5 years. Maybe it has to do with the elevated estrogen. Keep us updated though!

I have no idea man. I'm taking Arimidex to kill the estrogen. I box competitively and I noticed that in the last year, I was putting on weight and fat for no reason. Also I was sluggish and that's a killer in my game. So out bumps the boogie, and I'm trying Arimidex.

So far, I notice I get up in the morning feeling great. Hope this feeling moves a little down south though.

Hey

drinkrum, I've noticed that lately I am much more tired than usual. I haven't been exercising much over the past couple months....which I'm changing right now....but I'm just gonna keep an eye on my blood levels....my saliva blood level test just arrived yesterday.

Man having a black bulb cannot be good. I got a haircut yesterday and the lady got hair all over my shirt and I was takin it off later when I got home. I noticed that all the hairs with the bulbs on um where white. Phew, i would be worried if they where black.

dont think just because u have white bulbs on your hairs you are in the clear. all my hairs have white bulbs on them, and i shed like a damn dog so i for sure know that isnt natural.

want a scary story? im not exagerating this at all. Today in class i pinched the front of my hairline and gave a little tug. When i looked i almost sh*t myself. I saw a huge gob of hair. 13 thick dark hairs, in one tiny little pinch. 13!!! thts not fair!!!! they all had white bulbs on them too. And if you think i just ripped out good hairs...try ripping out 13 hairs in one square centimeter of scalp with 1 pinch. you would be bleeding.

White bulbs indicate hairs are end of a growth stage (telogen hairs). Normal hair proceeding.

A lot of telogen hairs that you will shed may not even have a white bulb because much of the white bulb is sticky sebum that might not get caught up when the hair falls. Just make sure the hair is thicker or at least not thinner at the root vis-a-vis the tip.
