I found a web story saying that caffeine down regulates some gene, I think called AMT or something, which is responsible for DNA repair. The conclusion was not to drink coffee before going out in the sun or you will age faster.
I would think we would see much faster aging in coffee drinkers if that were true. I also wonder how accurately they could measure such gene expression.
I did not see the actual study. Just a news article about the study. But it does make me think twice about using caffeine in my shampoo. Caffeine may be helpful, but I wonder if something else could do the same thing without the down sides.
