Can finasteride stop shedding?

I used finasteride for 2 months in the past, but decided to drop it due to excessive initial shedding.
Also, my case is a combination of Telogen Effluvium + male pattern baldness, due to surgeries I have received in the past.
I am thinking about going back on finasteride later once Telogen Effluvium stops (had a major surgery in March).
I was curious if finasteride completely stops shedding after the initial shed or if it comes back every now and then.
Your response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

why ever stop? Your hair gets worse if you stop. It gets better if u stay on it

I've been on finasteride 1.3mg daily for nearly a year straight and the shedding has completely stopped but my hairline has receded a bit on one of my temples and the other is thin but still okay.

I suggest not quitting finasteride, never go under .5 mg's daily.

You can ask your doctor to put you on generic proscar 5mgx30 and just cut the tablets in fourths. It literally only costs me $6 FOR THREE MONTHS!

I'm not kidding btw, you can get more than the recommended amount needed to prevent/reduce further hairloss for $2 a month or 6 cents a day so why not do it?
