I got a lot of minuturized hairs on my hairline and wanna ask you guys can finasteride thicken these hairs up or will it just maintain? I'm realy new to this so please be not so harsh :)

Your hair looks fine to me but you know your hair the best. If you’re diffuse thinning and losing ground on the hairline, get an official diagnosis from a derm. If they don’t believe you and you’re not convinced, get your blood checked to rule out anything else like thyroid. And at that point you can go ahead and a blood test to get your baseline hormones for dht, test, etc.

Then start finasteride. The reason why it’s not a super simple process of just starting finasteride is because you’re young and messing with hormones isn’t the best idea

Maybe 0.5g is an idea?

Can you take a picture of your hairline sweeping it straight back? You could just be maturing.

If it is male pattern baldness, again get a blood test to determine your baseline hormones just in case.

I think you can indeed thicken it slightly with finasterade However to regain lost ground the best, you should do microneedling plus Minoxidil, plus The Ordinary hair redensyl serum (people say it works synergistically with minoxidil).

In addition I would take biotin to encourage healthy faster growth to see the healthier and fastest of your results. Much love friend your hair still looks Great

Yea but I realy don't Want to start something like minoxidil at this age cause it's a hassle doing it everyday in my opinion but appreciate your answer
Ok fair enough, minoxidil is not time consuming to apply alternatively use a derma roller.

You are 19. Your hairline isn't receding, it is maturing... there is a difference. I would not recommend going on finasteride right now. You don't want to cause a hormonal imbalance and cause hair loss issues.

My advice, hold off for now. Keep checking your hair and see if it stabilizes by itself. I wouldn't recommend finasteride to anyone under 25 unless they had obvious signs of aggressive hair loss.

What about considering the BIG3 or Topical Finasteride?

I think nizoral is useful for everyone to maintain a healthy scalp. I don't think minoxidil or topical finasteride should be used unless the person is 100% sure they have hair loss and not just a maturing hairline.

This is the hard part about hair loss. Start treatment when it isn't needed and you'll definitely end up needing it. Start too late when it is needed and it is harder to recover what is lost.

In the OP's case he falls under the first part. He doesn't have clear enough proof that his hairline diminishing is hair loss and not just normal maturing. I'd hate to see someone jump the gun and make a good situation go bad, right now IMO his hair looks completely fine and normal for his age.

More insight would be helpful in figuring this out. Hair loss is typically hereditary. Father and uncles, both sides, should be looked into while this early in. If his father has a full head and his mother's brothers have a full head, I'd be very very cautious about labeling this as anything but normal maturing.

Than a appointment with the dermatologist would be the best route.....

You need to post pictures with the hair combed straight back so we can see the hairline. There’s a reason side parts are the go to hairstyle for early stage male pattern baldness. Whether you intend it or not, you’re covering the temples and preventing us or you from seeing what’s really going on. Additionally, this style is also preventing us from seeing the diffuse thinning your post references as it also hides loss on top.

As for baby hairs, their presence in and of itself means nothing. Literally everyone has baby hairs at the front...they’re constantly shedding of their own accord as they, like the hair st your nape, are just weaker in general and prone to terminal length problems. It’s only an issue if there are a disproportionate number of them or an increase over the amount you normally have.

I’ve got this pack of them on my left temple that have been there my whole life. They get to a few inches or so, fall out, regrow, and repeat. It literally changes the shape of my hairline for a few weeks before they regrow enough to be visible from distance. That used to make me nervous, (it’s what lead me down the hair loss rabbit hole to begin with), but once I took a breath and started tracking it over the course of a year or so, I recognized that was just the way they roll and there was no need to worry about it unless they started to not regrow or the depth increased.
