Can I be losing my hair if I’m not excessively shedding?

I’m 19 y/o, I’ve always had a high hairline to the point where people have joked about it, but not receding. However recently I’ve noticed my hair on the left side of my head had been thinner/higher than usual, but I have no before pictures so I can’t tell if it’s just my imagination/paranoia since I’ve been like that for a while about hair loss. The one thing is my hair isn’t really shedding when I run my hand through it at all, it’s basically normal. Could I be balding even with not very much shedding?

Hair loss in the temples is basically the one kind that often stabilizes and stops receding. You can see people like Sting with that pattern not changing since the 80's. Since frontal hair loss often is isolated from the rest of scalp hair, yes, you wouldn't expect to see much hair falling and if the worst happens, you can usually fill temple areas with transplants provided the fringe and crown are perfect like Sting's. I wouldn't chance it though. I would go on finasteride now.
