This is my first post on these forums.
My question is this: Has anybody here ever experienced, or know of anyone who has experienced, a lowered white blood cell count and/or neutrophil count due to Minoxidil use?
A brief background: I have been a daily 5% liquid minoxidil user for several years (Kirkland brand), and my use of the drug has coincided (perhaps coincidentally) with a low white blood cell count and low neutrophil count, consistently ranging from 3.1-4.0 and 1.5-2.0, respectively, over a number of tests in the last 2 years. This has had a real impact on my life, as I now get sick every couple of weeks. My baseline WBC and neutrophil counts, from tests done years ago, were a lot higher. Lowered WBCs/neutrophils is actually listed as a "rare" side effect of minoxidil. So, I stopped minoxidil 4 months ago to see if it would improve my numbers. Unfortunately, there has been no improvement. Meanwhile, I've seen a hematologist and an immunologist, who have not been able to find any other cause for my low WBC/neutrophils. I have been advised to stay off of the minoxidil and give it more time. Meanwhile, my hair is falling out. Despite extensive searching, I have found nothing on the internet saying that Minoxidil has this effect, and I've found no personal accounts about it on this message board. Has anybody else? I am skeptical that minoxidil is the cause of my WBC issues, and I want to start using it again to restore my hair.
Thank you so much for any feedback that you may have on this.
