Can Minoxidil Really Work Properly If Your Hair Is Too Long?

I noticed minoxidil works better when I shave my head. When my hair gets longer and minoxidil gets harder to apply, more minoxidil gets on my hair than on my scalp and results start diminishing. Anyone else experienced this?

Foam or liquid? Been using foam for about a week now, hair is about medium length but I'm very diffuse. Generally part the hair on one side of my head, apply, move to another spot, etc...do this about 2-3 times. I think I get a good amount on the scalp itself, but my hair is still pretty wet when I'm done. Paranoid I'm not getting enough on the scalp and considering switching to liquid but not sure if that'd be better.

Could it be that your hair just looks less thin when your head's shaved and you're looking at stubble?

Foam is hard to penetrate the skin even with short hair. I stay away from it, I see no results on foam.

Liquid gives me results, it's what I use.

I try parting my hair as much as possible, but it still almost looks like I showered.

As long as you are getting it to the skin, and not top of the hair shaft alone, it will work fine no matter what. Liquid and the dropper is the best way of doing it.

I am a female with shoulder length hair, yes a lot does get into my hair so I use 2-2.5 mls and apply it drop by drop and rub it in for a few seconds to make sure it doesn't go down my hair strands, and I've been having pretty nice results.

I think if my hair was as short as men's hair it would've been hella easier to apply, but yea it's possible to get results whatever your hair length is. However because of the miniaturization thing, some hairs don't really grow long before falling out, so you'll be alright to a certain length then you'll find your hair ends being see-through and stringy, that's if you are ever interested in really growing out your hair to a long length not just a few inches

Idk how you do it, my hair is short but too long for minoxidil imo. I use 3 ml and see my hair wet, I feel like the hair is getting most of the action. I just shaved my head yesterday, I don't want to keep applying minoxidil on my hair because I know what happens next. What always happens is I see minoxidil results diminishing the longer the hair grows. I need it on my scalp as much as possible.

I agree if you have shorter hair its easier but I guess it depends how much of your head you are trying to cover. I only use at my crown (I dont have a bald spot yet but theres a thinning spot) and on my hairline and temples. Its a bit of annoying at the back as all of my hair on the top is pretty long, it goes down to the bottom of my nose if I pull it down. But it still seems to be effective as im having regrowth. It does leave my hair greasy at the back though. I dont even massage it in anymore either. Like Sokubo said, if it touches the skin you should be all good.

This is exactly my problem too. 75% of my foam application goes onto the strands of my hair!!
