Can Minoxidil Stop Working After A Few Months?

Hello everybody, first post here )

I started using Minoxidil about two years ago. It was slow to make any difference at all and I nearly gave up. But after about three months not only did the shedding stop but my hair seemed to regrow. It remained stable for about 18 months, but then suddenly shed again in January, then seem to stabilise, and then shed again.

Part of the problem may be consistency. I did get a little complacent with the treatment and was less regular with its application prior to the January shed (but still fairly regular -- at least once a day).

What I wonder is that can the product just simply stop working? Or do you have to be super regular with it. I must say that the shedding I have received has been quite a lot. In the most recent instance, I was without the product for only a couple of days, but seemed to have shed a lot since.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

best wishes

Minoxidil will continue to work, but it doesn't stop balding. So after you've peaked (after about a year) you will continue to bald at about the same rate as you were balding before. Thus after some amount of time, depending on the speed of your balding, you will get back to baseline, after that you will go beyond baseline. But don't fool yourself, if you stop minoxidil you will still lose hair.
