Can Propecia cause constipation?

I been on it for 11 days now and since day 5 or 6 I had lack of bowel movement and constipation. Also I take Zegerid 40mg 2x daily and liquid Carafate 2x daily for my severe acid reflux, but I been takin this stuff for like almost 2 years and never gave me probs. So what's up? I have no dietary/lifestyle changes.

Had the same problems but they started round month 8 of 11 for me.

Constipation is a symptom of hypothyroidism and when I came off the drug, my TSH was pretty damn high even 3 months later.

Get your blood tested:

DHT
Total Testosterone
Free Testosterone
LH
FSH
Estradiol
SHBG
TSH
AST
ALT
Prolactin

Well I had a blood test like 4 months ago and it was perfect. I seriously doubt I have hypothyrodism, you will have all kinds of symptoms from that. My sister has that. and i seriously doubt propecia caused this for you.

What tests were run? And you do realize that test was BEFORE you were on finasteride, right?

I seriously doubt I have hypothyrodism, you will have all kinds of symptoms from that. My sister has that. and i seriously doubt propecia caused this for you.

Why don't you just test your TSH and see where it's at instead of "doubting you have hypothyroidism"? It's the only way to be sure.

Dude I been on Propecia for 11 days and a little constipation doesn't mean I have hyperthyrodism right away lmao. I mean if you get a little headache are you gonna think you have meningitis or a brain hemorraghe? Or a little back pain and does it means you have kidney disease, liver probs or lung problems? I don't think so. I'm sorry you got that condition but you don't have to stick it on everybody who's got a case of constipation!

Look, I'm just relating my experience and others' as well from when they took the drug. Wether or not you have hypothyroidism in 11 days, likely not, but it doesn't hurt to test anyway.

Maybe it's just a case of your body not agreeing with the medication, or something else entirely. Either way, you wanted to know if others had experienced constipation on finasteride, so I gave you some info. Wether you choose to check things out is up to you.

I don't take heroin but I indulge in other things from time to time. My exes parents were big time heroin dealers before their imprisonment so I have some knowledge about it.

Sounds like you have a predisposition to GI problems.

I actually feel as though I've been more regular since getting on finasteride.

Also, if you're having constipation try increasing your daily intake of fiber (both soluble and insoluble). Try adding a bowl of raisin bran or frosted mini wheats to your morning schedule EVERY morning. If you feel like snacking, try something with whole grains...

I have high fiber breakfast cereal every morning and you could set a clock with my afternoon bathroom excursions. :crazy:
