Here is my advice OP. None of these people can give you a definitive answer. You should consult a dermatologist to examine your scalp. They can prescribe finasteride if needed. Ask yourself, do you have a family history of balding? Your mom's dad? Your dad? Dad's dad? Siblings? Blood related Uncles? If the answer is yes then it is possible. Even if it isn't it's still possible as it can skip a couple generations.
A dermatologist can determine this definitively and prescribe you propecia/ finasteride. This drug has side effects in about 3-6% of patients but a majority of these go away after discontinuation. Your decision to weigh the risks but the odds are in your favor. About 90% of patients maintain hair and 65% regrow hair. For your case you only really need maintenance. 15% still lose ground, however, most is a slower progression. About 1-2% don't respond to treatment at all.
If you care about your hair I would recommend taking action immediately instead of waiting because if you are losing hair then waiting could make you end up like me. I was a norwood 2 with minor thinning but was so scared of sides and in denial I said "it's just a maturing hairline." Only to realize Im a norwood 2.5 heading to norwood 3. It getting harder to style my hair and cover anything. Now I'm on treatment and I am either a non responder or I'm shedding as these treatments typically do. I'd rather shed with more hair to start than less because right now I can't even go out in public.
Time is of the essence. Do something now.
