Can you apply it when your head is still wet?

Sometimes I don't have time to wait for my hair to dry...does anyone know if it is fine to apply when the head/hair is still pretty damp?

Yes - totally fine. In fact, applying minoxidil to a hydrated scalp (but not w/ your hair wringing wet) will help increase the absorbtion rate and ultimately the effectiveness of the minoxidil.

The only thing you need to wary of - is that due to the increased absorbtion you might be prone to the negative sides of minoxidil (headaches, increased heart rate, dizziness, etc.).

I do it all the time - and don't have a problem w/ it.

Results will vary.

also I've noticed that adding the foam to dry hair results in a weird texture for my hair - whereas applying while still towel-damp results in a very good texture that's notably thicker and easier to work with overall.

Even if I don't grow new hair, I actually like the foam as a styling agent.

Crud. Just realized this is my third post in 10 minutes extolling the virtues of the foam... i swear I'm not a shill. :)

and MSFB - make sure you've towel-dried pretty well. You don't want a WET scalp. You want the hair to be damp.

Yah me too. I think its just cos I apply a large amount into a smallish area (temples). I just end up leaving it, as it disappears after a while.

I thought somewhere around here there was a thread that said apply to dry hair for best absorption. I would think wet would dilute it a bit.

Just the opposite.

There was a contributor though who recently said that the pamphlet insert that comes w/ the foam recommends applying to a dry scalp - but it's been long known that applying to a hydrated scalp increases absorbtion.

I've been having the same problem, but I've applying it to a dry scalp. Never even thought of applying it to a wet scalp... I thought that was always a big thing to avoid with the liquid. Either way, I've been on the foam for just over a week now. I'm a little paranoid about whether it will work or not.. starting to get hung up on the hairs I lose again.

I've heard multiple places that applying wet causes increased absorption. Maybe because the wet hair won't soak up the minoxidil, and so more ends up on the scalp?

no...the pores on your head as just expand when your head is hydrated.

Well. I can say that for me it has not made a difference if my head is dry or wet. minoxidil is still not growing much.

one of the 20%

Its a bit odd cos in the first 5 weeks I regrew a tiny amount of hair on my left temple, so it did something, but my hairline is continuing on getting worse. (The hair that regrew is still hanging in there, even improving, but its hardly a cosmetic change for the better)

Still I plan to hang in there for at least a year before I consider quitting it.

It would certainly suck to be in the 20% that minoxidil does not work for and the 20% that propecia does not work for either.
