just curious cause my dad has it. although he has fine and low density of hair at the ripe age of 57, he still looks like he's got alot of hair from a distance cause his hairline has not receded much at all.

i keep on reading these websites and they claim they women are the ones who have diffuse thinning (if someone were witty enough, they'll slam me as being too feminine), and that they will most likely not become bald. is this true?

Men can definitely have DT too. They also can have FPB. In fact Asians tend to have this type of hair loss as opposed to a receding hairline.

Anyhow if your Pa has a little diffuse thinning at 57 I'd say he is doing pretty damn good. I wouldn't look for your hair to turn out much worse than his Esp. if your hair loss is following in the same footsteps as his. My suggestion is to use the finasteride/nizoral/min combo and not give it a second thought.

Had a boss who was 35 and the whole top of his head was diffuse to the point of being see through. His hairline was intact the hair was just shrunk down so much. He was married and didnt really care about it which most guys his age who are married don't. I think minoxidil and nizoral would have pumped his hair back to normal. I never saw this type of baldness before and was amazed at it. He had no thin spots just the diffuse hairs on the top of his head. It made him look bald though because he had blondish hair. I felt like slapping him on the head a few times because he was a dick. Can you hear me Dan. I

I recently read an article saying that male pattern baldness was genetic, but the timing of when the male pattern baldness and the extent of it was more complicated than pure genes. It claimed that environmental factors and the subject's overall health can speed up or slow down the onset of male pattern baldness and the extent and speed that it affects someone. Obviously male pattern baldness is hormone related, and stressful life events have effects on the hormone balance on people's bodies.

Back to the original poster's point.. perhaps this person was genetically programmed to have a mild and late male pattern baldness, but his lifestyle accelerated the process of thinning but his hairs were just plain not pre-programmed to give him the horseshoe pattern? Just some food for thought.

dude! i'm asian! so i guess i have DT. man, this sucks. so u're saying that minoxidil would help? i already did some Nizoral a few months ago for my dandruff.

i'm going to ask my dad when he got his diffuse thinning and if it just kicked in like a mofo like i did.

at the age of 60 my dad has diffuse thinning all over his head, but still has a hair line, but has receded a little north, but not too bad. i believe he started to lose his hair around the age of 40, of course i never even noticed. Hell, I don't think I really noticed his hairloss until maybe 3 or 4 years ago, when I started to lose my hair. However, both my gradfathers are chrome domes, yet seeing pics of them in their 30s and 40s, they still had a lot of hair. I still don't know why I started to lose hair at the crown at the age of 21 (I'm 25 now).
