Changed my dose (0.5mg every other day)

I change my dose; i take 0.5mg every other day from today on.

The reason: i have problem with appetite, but am not sure if it is my new love or the dutasteride.
But i wanted to take it every other day anyways after some month since i started. This time has now come (5 month).

By the way: i have great success with dutasteride :lol: :lol:
Next month i will do a big 6 month update.

A bit! But i must try it.
I can raise the dose to every day again if this happens. I think that 0.5mg every day is very much! Perhaps not needed (yet).
BTW: i do it so now: 0.5mg on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. I can remember to take it easily so.

For my situation of hair. I have only thinning in the front, that is thickening since weeks. I am now trying if the lower dose is right for me.

hey Jacky81 have u had problems with increase thinning in the frontal area of your hair, iv been on avodart .5mg a day for 3 going on 4 months now anf my front is thinning alot did this happen to you? if so when did u see it come in thicker?

I was not so hungry for some weeks. But this was the start of being in love with a girl. Now the hunger developed to a normal level.

Yes, this is exactly my problem: the front. I use lasercomb since end of august 2005 that made my front better, really!
Then, to christmas 2005 started with dutasteride. Yes, perhaps the first 1-3 month a bit thinning but not more than with finasteride 2001.

My front got very much better! I can style my hair to a vertex now. From the sides it looks good! Of course it is not perfect, yet, but i hope to rethick even more.

Hi there. I am switching from Propecia(2 yrs +) to Avodart. Do you think I should start Avodart with a dose of 0.5mg every other day? I had a bad shedding after about 5 months of Propecia, I am now wondering if starting Avodart will trigger another shedding and if a does of 0.5 mg every other day could prevent or minimize another shedding..

I would go 1 capsule of Avodart daily... shedding may be unavoidable no matter how much Avodart you put in your body.

Nonetheless, you should benefit despite shedding while on Avodart!

How old are you? What Norwood state?

If you are Norwood 1-3:
I would advise taking 0.5mg dutasteride every day until the steady state is reached.
Then lower the dose to 4x0.5mg/week and see how things (hair) develop.

BUT: if you have very bad hair state (bad 3 and worse) then take 0.5mg every day.

Hi, I am 32, Norwood 1 to 2. Diffuse thinning especially the crown area, no noticeable hairline receding.

Did you switch from Propecia to Avodart as well? If you did, did you have a second shedding after the switch?

Yes. I did take propecia from 2001-2005 having good results in year(s) 1-3 then continuos thinning.
Then in September 2005 started lasercomb - moderate shedding.
In December 2005 started dutasteride - moderate shedding again same level than with finasteride.

I THINK dutasteride ist stronger stuff so it has more power. But i am really not sure. I am near the 6 month mark.

Hello,

i changed my dose again!!!
Due to more acne and seemingly worse hair condition (thinner hair, not feeling as healthy as before, more loss???) i decided to take dutasteride again every day! Until xmas 2006.
Then i will make a conclusion - one year.

If my hair is better i will try lower the dose again. Perhaps i will take also pictures.

(For information: i took dutasteride every day from 12/2005 until end of may 2006. Then i took it 4x/week until middle of july 2006.)

Just as information for all:
changed again my dose. Sorry, cannot take 0.5mg every day, that is TOOOOOO MUCH for me. I cannot.

The side effects are too strong:
- skin problems (dry left hand and deflection)
- moods, depressions
- sexual problems
- concentration problems

I hope it will get better with my new dosage but i can say that i cannot take 0.5mg every day. This is a fact. I think 4 x 0.5mg / week can be enough. In my eyes this is still more than 5mg finasteride every day, am i right?

Have more acne. Is this because of the hormonical change? If yes how long takes my body to acclimate?
