Overview:
age 20-notice shedding
age 21-start propecia
age 23-no more shedding
I first noticed male pattern baldness when my scalp was constantly itchy, and hair was constantly coming out. My shed was constant. No heavy days or light days, always the same. At 21 I got worried, even though I didn't notice any major change in my hair, I had a pretty thick head of hair. I decided to get on propecia. The pills were eating up my wallet, and after about a year and a half of no change, I decided to switch to fincar. I had basically given up. Another few months went by. My hair was definitely thinner and had slightly receded at the temples. I would definitely call myself a "diffuse" thinner because I clearly lost most of my hair from all around my scalp, not the temples. After a few months of fincar, I decided to buzz my head. I figured it was a lost cause, and kept taking the pills as desperation. I didn't want to look pathetic, and wanted to seem in control. It was a decent look for me so I didn't really mind. It actually completely took my mind off the hairloss so I kept it buzzed for a few months. At around the 2 year mark of propecia/fincar, I let my hair regrow. I had a job interview coming up and my mom was nagging me to let the hair come back. Now it is about two months later. My hair is noticeably thicker, the temples are about the same, but most importantly, the hair doesn't come out! I don't see hairs anywhere. On my pillow, on my hand, in the sink, on my shirt. My hair isn't perfect, but the progression of hair loss has seemingly been halted. This is all I wanted, and I am very excited. Hopefully you all can take a few things out of this. 1) Don't give up, at least through 2 years. Propecia/fincar may not start working until later. If i had followed propecia's guidelines, I would still be needless suffering, and my 1 year of propecia would have been for naught. 2) Diffuse thinner's CAN be cured, or at least helped by propecia. 3) Buzz your head! Maybe by taking my mind off of things, and reducing my stress it helped out. Maybe not. But the fact is that prior to buzzing my head I felt helpess, and afterwards I felt in control and better about myself. I thought I'd look hideous with it buzzed but it wasn't too bad. Alright if you all have any questions please let me know. I was about to just go about my life and forget about this website, but you all definitely helped me through tough times. THANKS, and hang in there.
Here are a few misc. pics. My camera isn't working so I had to gather the latest. Just to show you where I'm at. It's kind of hard to tell but it's all I have for the moment. The pictures go from oldest to newest. Different lengths of course..
