Combing out wet hair....

Just wondering here, gals: I notice the bulk of my hair coming out when I am combing it after washing it. Believe me when I tell you that I am REALLY careful and use a wide-toothed comb, but this is where it just seems to come out so easily. I have even been using more conditioner so that it is easier to comb, but I have fine, limp, straight hair so you know what too much conditioner does!

Do you all notice the same thing? I do get shedding during the day, but I do believe that the bulk of the loss happns after washing it. Or does it just not matter, because it is gonna come out anyway?!?!?!?!?

Just wanting to do everything I can!

From what I understand, it doesn't matter. That is if the whole hair is coming out, not due to breakage. It would come out anyways. I do notice 99% of my loss is between combing and styling. Then, maybe just a few hairs throughout the day. My hair is really thin and fine too, and I know what you mean about combing carefully. Which I do.. who needs extra breakage? But the shrinking follicles push the hairs out so they come out anyways.

It's going to come out anyway, but that doesn't make washing your hair any less traumatic. I only do it when I really need to, use lots of conditioner and a wide tooth comb, all with the same disheartening results. From all that I've read, a new hair is pushing out the old one, and new growth is on it's way. :)

http://www.skinbiology.com has very useful info on general hair care and its relatationship to hairloss.

Great products too!

thanks, dude! I read a ton of it. I am currently swimming 10-11,000 yards per week and I probably need to use that conditioner before I put on the cap and goggles.

Also....I am using a minoxidil 2% plus Retin A formula and I noticed you are using 5% plus Folligen. Would Folligen be too much for me with what I am doing? I don't want to irritate my scalp any more than I have to, ya know, but I want to maximize things too.

Thanks!

Folligen should actually help improve the condition of your scalp, it has mine. If you get any irritation in the beginning, Pickhard recommends diluting it 50% and then building back up to full strength.

I would also recommend the shampoo and conditioner as they really work well together with the therapy spray. And interestingly, I am doing the 100 strokes with the brush in the evening. It is NOT an old wives tale, it works.

Good luck
