has anyone seen complete reversal of miniaturised hair on the top of their heads?

by this i mean had the very small, short and thin hairs ,over the course of a few cycles seen them get back to the longer thicker normal hairs of pre male pattern baldness days?

i ask because since oct 05 i have definitely seen the hairs get longer and thicker but they still only grow to about an inch or so,has anyone been through this and what realistically do you think will happen? :hairy:

What´s MSM?

It stands for methylsulfonylmethane. It's an herbal compound that some consider a hair loss remedy. But there is very little scientific proof to back it up. It certainly can't hurt to take it, but chances are it won't help.

Its a form of organic sulfur. While I don't believe it will do anything for male pattern baldness, there have been many reports of hair growing faster, coming in a bit thicker, stronger nails, better skin etc. It certainly wouldn't hurt your regimen and may be beneficial to a small extent.

Oh and to answer Libertines question...yes...I've had complete reversal of minitiarization of quite a bit of hair from the top of my head. Also, my temples went from a NW4 to a strong NW2 and now have terminal hair on formerly slick spots.

Thanks Beaner and Jayman, for the explanations... i´m a bit sceptical about these organic/natural products after what i´ve been hearing.
Libertine and Beaner both use minoxidil, which im considering adding to my regimen. would u recommend this to an NW2 who´s already using Propecia and is more concerned about maintenance (especially in hairline)?

If you're happy with the hair you have and are only looking to maintain your current status, I see no reason to add minoxidil right now. I would give the propecia time to do it's thing, which odds are in your favor it will maintain what you currently have. If you think you're still losing hair after 6-8 months, then maybe consider adding minoxidil.

Hmmm....is that a subtle suggestion that you think hairs change ONLY from one cycle to the next?

beaner,

how long were your temples slick before treatment and how long did they take to grow back? did you just use the minoxidil 5% on them, or the spironolactone, or the xandrox, or what?

i remember the xandrox regrew some terminals on a slick bald spot on top of your head. how long was that slick for?

From what i gather, the hair follicle can only really change and get bigger, wider, healthier, etc. when there isn´t a hair growing out of it. so it has to shed the weak, thin, small one if it wants to make way for a larger, stronger, healthier one. people, please correct me if im wrong on this.

i remember the xandrox regrew some terminals on a slick bald spot on top of your head. how long was that slick for?

Temples were slick for a couple years prior to treatment. When I began using minoxidil I only used it on the crown, thinking it was useless elsewhere. Enough must have dripped or diffused into the temple area to trigger regrowth. It was extremely slow...I didn't even realize there were any changes in my temples for another year or so. I only in the last year began using the minoxidil directly on the temples which sped things up and just in the last few months, dab a bit of spironolactone on them a couple times a day...most of the regrowth was soley due to the minoxidil.

The slicks spot on my crown has been there for literally years. That was the first to noticeably go in my 20's....crown slowly thinnning and eventually revealing a slick bald center.....the whole spot use to engulf practically the whole top of my head. Crown is filling in and covered in peach fuzz with terminals....I don't want to say it was from the Xandrox 12.5 lotion...I think it was more the addition of finasteride with the continued minoxidil usage...probably would have gottent the same results with the 5%.

thanks for the info. i don't know if I should take that to mean that if my temples were going to fill in I would have seen it already, after two years of finasteride and inconsistent minoxidil applied directly, or if I should take that to mean that growth from old slick scalp takes a long time and i should not give up.

in my left hair line, i did get peach fuzz after 2 months of consistent 5% use while on finasteride. it got as long as 3/4 of an inch, before I got off it for hair transplants. This happened months before the transplants and i got off, and once more again after the first transplants and i got off for my second transplant, and now I'm seeing some fuzz growing there again, though not long, so there definitely is a causal effect.
