Confused about Retinol

Hello all,
I'm a bit confused about retinol. In one post/ng (not sure where) I read that products containing retinol should be avoided as they can cause hair loss and then in other posts I read that people are using retinol as part of their treatments for better saturation, etc. What's the deal? Should I be worried about using wrinkle creams containing this component?
