Hi guys

First time poster so be gentle. 37 year old now, probably at nw3-nw3.5, hair line being receding back since i was 21. Never massively bothered me as still had decent density but for whatever reason these last 6 months my crown has defused out so its now quite noticeable and starting to defuse all over the scalp.

Having some bloods taken to rule out any medical issue (a few run in the family, anemia, thyroid etc) although pretty sure its just my male pattern baldness thats finally got worse and more noticeable.

The only step i seem to have is going on the finestaride, pretty much think that the hair will go anyway if i dont give it a try. Very worried about any shedding and more worried if that doesnt then come back. Can anybody with any experience or knowledge comment on whether, given my gradual recede into allover thinning would indicate
(a) how likely i am to be a good responder to finesteride
(b) how likely/aggressive a shed i could expect?

Just wondering as i cant reallty seem to find out how well the drug works/how bad sheds are when comparing types of hairloss i.e, 37 yo with slow decline vs 22 yo with aggressive.

Many thanks for any comments.

why not combine finasteride with minoxidil, i use a topical version (a mix of the two) spray my bald areas twice a day and give it a quick 30 second rub.

i am 48 years old and i have seen a noticeable growth on my bald areas (nw7)

Not looked into minoxidil yet although read about it. I guess my theory is that try finasteride first see if i can maintain (which would be brilliant for me) and then ill know whats doing what.

I think my testosterone levels are naturally low because of other ‘symptoms’....would this contribute to why my hair loss has been gradual?

Im interested in any experiences of starting finasteride on my gradual type of hair loss?
